The example I gave above is from Zelda one of the more beautiful and detailed games and we all know how much effort went into that game. Graphics are important to developers, as when people see the games on the TV or in the magazine they can’t say, “as you can see the gameplay are outstanding” You can’t tell things like that from a picture or a video clip. What you can comment upon is how well it looks and that is how graphics come into play.
Which is why when you play a storming game it tends to have gorgeous graphics because if Zelda had Body Harvest style graphics on the advert how many would of still bought it? They would say it looked rubbish, which is something they shouldn’t do, as it isn’t. So to avoid this misunderstanding the game needs to look as well as play good. Body Harvest played a dream but it had shoddy graphics, I didn’t mind I don’t care but Body harvest costs a tenner and why? Because it didn’t sell because people looked at the game and saw it as a pathetic waste of time which it isn’t!
If the developers of the game spent an extra few months and improved the graphics it would of undoubtedly sold a lot more. Which is why consoles try to make the graphics look better with better chip and also so the graphics are easier for developers to implement. The Gamecube’s graphics compression chip which compresses 50mb worth of graphics into 8mb making it much easier.
So the future of gaming is looking much nicer, the PS2 has gorgeous graphics, the DC’s were lovely in fact I found the 64’s nice and I’m betting the Gamecube and the X-box will take graphics even further and the consoles to follow will do the same. The future of graphics is something that we can be sure will be nicer and is something we can all look forward to.
Here's to the future

"graphics, look at the graphics" are you interested in anything else??
IF Gran Turimo 3 which i should get tommorow (yipee) has nothing else but beautifull looking cars going round and round then it's garbage but if the gameplay backs the graphics then it'll be sweet and Dan uk,yes there's no dening that the PS2 has some awfull jagged edges games out there but the anti analising "fault" is easily fixed by the software and new realeases are fine.
The PS2 is capable of some pretty damn fine visuals devil may cry,MGS2,GT3,silent hill 2,quake 3 etc
As for the PS2 - it's sort of mixed.
Half the games look pretty smooth:
Like the Air Board game and Jax and Daxter.
Others look seriously blocky and ugly (I thought that they were good PSOne games when I first saw them, then it said PS2...)

The graphics on ZOE are impressive, as are Red Factions. But, Onimusha's are very good, and are up there with the likes of GT3. It's getting good for the PS2, and can only get better and better. Onimusha 2 sounds good to me. What about you Bonus?

I'm glad that's cleared up. Maybe I should now go and get enlightened. I would ask which one you recommend Bonus, but I already have Onimusha and Red Faction, and will be getting GT3 tomorrow, so I don't really need to be enlightened.

I am not sure. Every time that I have seen it, it has been GT3. I'm sure it will change though.

I totally agree. The graphics of Onimusha: Warlords are stunning and gorgeous, and is one of the best looking games on the PS2. I can't wait to see later games to see what the PS2 is really cabable of.
I am kind of hoping that the graphics of GT3 are as good as everybody says they are, and that it plays just as well. Just have to wait till tomorrow to find out.
