I've been replaying the original and it's wonderful. Like when I was playing through Ocarina of Time and other classics again, you just wish you could be for the first time. It's a wonderful game and to be honest I'm not too bothered if this is just an addition to the first story with the same game engine.
The graphics do seem to have been slightly reworked, the lighting effects especially look better and the new-look energy bar and visor/arm cannon options looks nice. I would have liked to see more, but I suppose we'll have to wait until the final version for anything solid.
The idea of two worlds seems to be the most promising thing the game has to offer in terms of new gameplay ideas. Whether it's simply for the story or will directly affect play is yet to be seen, but it's a nice idea. I have a feeling the the Halo-type figure that's supposed to be hunting Samus will be similar to the SA-X scenario in Fusion, perhaps when the planet was split in two the 'Dark Samus' was created on the dark side or something (oooh, Star Wars-ness).
I want it. My only minor gripe is the lack of much new, but like I say an add-on wouldn't exactly be a bad thing and all we've really seen are a few screenshots and info on the story and name. It would be interesting to see if it follows on from Prime or Fusion, or somewhere else on the Metroid timeline.
E3 this year will rock.
I want MP2. Yus.

I have a feeling 'Dark Samus' will continue to reek of Body Harvest.
A hero in an orange and red suit, and an enemy stalking and attacking him/her, wearing a dark suit?
I know these things are clichéd and limited in scope, but even if they came up with the idea independently, it'd have been polite to, y'know, not make it exactly the same as another game.
:) Could be VERY nice, very pretty, and still retain a very metroid-style story and gameplay!
When you think about, something as little as that could change the entire focus of the game.
At the end of the game we saw Samus destroy the station with the SA-X onboard, along with SR388, however, as the creature was becoming more cunning and intelligent according to the story.
What if one of the SA-X had already had the same idea as Samus, and left the station in a lifepod etc.
Now, not knowing when Metroid Prime 2 is set, maybe it could be after Metroid Fusion... (following me here? :) )
Believing the SA-X destoryed, Samus would have escaped, and not gone searching for any remnants.
What if the SA-X once again began to multiply, and managed to locate the planet (can't remember the name... lol), and absorbed some of the power of the Metroid Prime, through assimilation of it's decayed cells.
Now then, we have the possibility that the 'Dark Samus', is an SA-X
, utilising the Phazon Suit upgrade, as modelledm by fair Samus late in the first game.
Probably not true, but it could be quite an interesting story, especially if the SA-X had got over it's instincts as it appeared to be trying to at the end of Metroid Fusion, and was now acting intelligently, tracking Samus as she tracks the pirates, plus think of the prospects of 3 way battles!!!
Tell me what you lot think of that idea!!
Your enemy is chasing you. You will have to use your iweapons, items, scanners and visors to get away. The one who is playing Samus' hunter can also use the same items to find Samus. This could not work if you wanted to play multiplayer on just one gamecube, since your opponent would know your location. It would however work in LAN mode.
LAN.
Since it was revealed, I'm sure every Nintendo multiplayer title has had LAN. Even better, since CUBE Wars is going to be revealed, and that was originally going to be online, perhaps this will be too?
The answer is no, by the way.
