If you have seen the ad on TV, you have to agree this looks oddly familiar.

But now it seems to be Deep Blue Sea with prehistoric beings (and dinosaurs too) This is perhaps another blatant attempt at cashing in on special effects and marketing.

PS. Why have there been NO good Jurassic Park games?

I see many of you who have seen it so far seem to agree that as an effects movie or blockbuster, JP3 seems to deliver, but its also apparrant that its script isn`t going to win any oscars!.

But to be fair, its script (or lack of) was down to constant re-writes and even the actors did not have a finished copy at hand prior to the start of filming.

The problem lies with what was happenning about a year ago just before JP3 started its shoot. In America there was to be an Actors & Writers Guild strike due to pay and royalties, this would have affected quite a number of summer 2001 film projects if it had gone ahead, thus many film studio`s held back scripts in limbo waiting to see what they could or could not do should the strike take hold.

Luckily, a solution was found to the strike action, but it still left some films with only weeks to get a filmable script up and running in time for shooting to begin. JP3 was one of these films. Even when the shoot did start, Johnson was unhappy with the way the first draft was going and ordered re-writes. This in turn lead to a brand new script which was virtually written as they filmed, because now time was the enemy and the film had to wrap by the end of October to have its CGI effects plus other stuff added.

So, i hope all of you who go and see JP3 do so with your braincells switched off and just enjoy it for the spectacle, albeit somewhat dimmed by having had two previous Dino outings.

The light gun game in the arcade for Jurassic Park was brilliant.

I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen the film but isn't the way they know the Spinosaurus is near one of the most laughably bad parts of any film in ages?

Isn't it also great how it ends? Or, more accurately, how it just stops.

The first film climaxes with a great (albeit brief) T-Rex/Raptor.

The second film ends with a T-Rex pounding around a busy city at night.

The third film ends with the credits.

To me it feels like the script and the film were made by people who wanted to make a Jurassic Park film, rather than by people who actually could. If only AI hadn't deprived the Spielberg touch - surely he wouldn't have let this happen....

In the trailer there's a part where someone asks 'Is this how you make dinosaurs'? and Dr Grant replies 'No, this is how you play God'. All I knew of the film beforehand was in this one trailer (I wanted to be surprised, but not in this way) so I also knew they we're banging on about raptor intelligence a lot as well and that there was something new and bigger/meaner than a T-Rex going around.

The basic impression of the plot I got from the trailer was that, somewhere along the line, a bit of extra genetic manupulation had taken placed and T-Rex DNA had been spliced with that of a raptor to give the best of both species in an attempt to create the worlds most dangerous ever predator or something daft like that.

Now I think that's a bit too 'hollywood' and 'blockbuster' a storyline for a Jurassic Park film but even my breif amateur misinterpreted plotline would have been better than the idea that has been implemented for our viewing torture.

Actually, maybe I should get working on something. Oh Mr Spielberg? Have you got any plans for next summer? No? Well can I have a quick word in your ear...
