Hey, I know this is a kind of controversial subject, but I think it’s one that should be sorted out. I’m not really up to date with all the PC terms so if I offend anyone, I’m very sorry and nothing was meant by this.
- First of all, Racism as a whole and my opinions.
In my opinion, all people should be treated equally. Whether they be black or white, straight or gay, rich or poor. By equally I mean equally. I don’t believe in schools for black people or schools for white people. I don’t believe white people should be treated better than black people OR black people better than white. I don’t believe a black man should be sacked just because he is black, but I also don’t believe black people should be able to sue for something white people can’t. In some cases I believe racism has gone too far the other way. Why should police officers be afraid of stopping black men? They are not afraid to stop whites, so why blacks? Why is there a difference? I also disagree with black people (by this I don’t just mean black by the way, I also mean Asian half-caste etc etc) who think the world is against them because they are black. How many times have I watched a program about the police? Ten white men get arrested and don’t complain. One black man gets arrested and screams the place down about it being because he is black. Where is the equality in that?
- But what has this got to do with gaming?
A few months ago, PC Gamer ran an article about racism in computer games. It used Soldier of Fortune as an example of the problems. It pointed out that, during the missions, you could not kill any civilians. If you killed more than 2 civilians, it was game over. However, in the missions that take place in Iraq, Iraqi citizens can be killed without any problems. These deaths aren’t even recorded on your “Innocents Killed” list. This shows the thinking that Iraqi citizens are not as valuable as Americans. Let’s make this clear, no where in the game do the innocents become a threat, they generally stand around minding their own business. This is clearly part of the American ‘Dirty Arab’, gung-ho kind of attitude toward these people. I would like to make one point before I finish, no where in the game does it say that it is ok to shoot Iraqi, yet no where does it say not to.
So, what do you think? Is this blatant racism? Is this simply a mistake? Have you noticed racism in any other games? Let’s get this sorted out because it should not have to be tolerated.
Someone posted a message on here about Helen from big brother saying something like this:
Helen is an annoying, loud mouthed welsh girl......
There is nothing wrong with being Welsh!
Racism doesn't have to be between colours. It can just be between countries (e.g. Nazis were racist towards everyone else in the world), religions, etc.
I took offence to that message when whoever it was posted the above (or something very similar) about Helen.
My company (the one that organised the gig in stratford) is called Raven... may have to change our name to avoid shame of sharing a name with somethign so bad

Have you written to them?
Racism is yet another form of misanthropy by us, the human race.
Doesnt matter if it's someone's colour, if not that then it'll be because they're too short/thin/fat/tall.
Angry, spiteful little race of me-monkeys that we are.
Forums are good because you cant see colour, age, religion or any of the other reasons that we hate each other.
Here's a point for ANYONE thinking of making racist comment:
The earliest remains of "man" have been located and traced back to Africa.
So we're all from there originally, it's only the fact that our ancestors crossed oceans and we adapted through evolution (sorry religious people) that you are not the same colour as someone on the other side of the hemisphere.
I know a lot of kids post here, so this is aimed at them:
Racism is a bypass to thinking.
Don't do it, don't tolerate it and don't pretend it's clever or original.
It's not.
