I have heard a lot of praise to Nintendo about the size of the GameCube(oid) but I ask you this: Who really cares?

It's a bloody games console for God's sake. It's not supposed to be portable. You've still got to lug a telly and assorted wires and then how will you power it? If we're using size as a selling point these days, may God help us. That's even more petty than graphics.

You don't want a massive console structure taking up too much space in your room though do you. A don't really think that there is any point arguing over the size of it, i'm more worried about the colour of the damn thing.

No, i meant instead of that screen that you can get for the ps1. put a 3 inch screen on a special GBA style pad, and link it to a PS1 in your rucksack running off a vattery adaptor that clips to the ps1. then the ps1 would be truely portable.

You mean a GBA with CDs? Kind of like mixing a CD player with a GBA? Hmm, no I think they're just as well to stick with paks since they are limited in the power a small machine can have and there's no need to waste room with CDs when paks are quite sufficient.

If they want the gamecube portable, they might want to consider either:

1: a hard case to carry it - the handle of the GC being the handle of the case, with room for pads and leads

2: putting retractable leads on the GC like on vaccuum cleaners.

Incidently, i had this idea that you could have a new ps1 size box holding the disc and some batteries, and then link it to a GBA style controller with a screen. Then you could chuck the disc reader into your bag or pocket and have an ultra small handheld that read cds. why hasnt anyone else thought of this?

I liked the title myself. Anyways, it's the chips and such that are getting smaller but also more powerful because people learn how to increase efficiency, so if you have a huge machine with a lot of small powerful processors just imagine the power! One day we'll be able to replace the sun with a replenishable energy source that could fit in the palm of the average hand. MUHUHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!

Excellent, Toro the hairless white cat got another mention!

I agree 100% with Turbonutters original post, aesthetics matter not when it comes to home consoles.

But seriously guys, what's with the willy-waving?

Honestly, do you have to try to bring it down to such a level?

Why do we want a bigger TV? so we can have a bigger picture infrount of us! size of aaa television has nothing to do with this. actually in a sense it does, the size of 30" TV today is smaller than it was so 5 years ago. Of course the screen is the same size but the actually size of the whole thing has decreased. We are getting TVs that we can hang on our walls.

The idea of the Nintendo console being small is a good one and it fits in with the future of Nintendo. Nintendo directing their plans more towards the portable gaming market, nd a small portable console fits in with the mainstream Gameboy advance.

Turbonutter said a console can not be portable becasue you need to carry around a huge Television with it. I find this view rather shallow because nearly every household has a TV, So moving the console would not involve moving the TV. Also most houses have more than one TV in thier house. In my household we have 4 TVs. So if i am playing on my GC downstairs but someone wants to watch somthin on Cable or whatever, my Gamecube will be easier to move to one the other locations with a TV ( with the aid of the handle).

So just stop dissing the size. its not a major selling point of the Gamecube, the games are the selling point. The size is a bonus. And its so amazing that at this tiny sizeit will be able to rival the PS2 and x-box at near half the price.

Alot of people are saying that the size does matter, I think this is a poor way to argue over consoles. THink of something like a TV, nowadays it seems to be the bigger the better. Huge 42" screens with dolby digital surround sound give a great gaming experience.

Who really cares about the size of the console? Not is if you are going to buy it and sit around it just staring and saying stuff like, "oohh its so small and pretty".
Like most it will probably be put ontop of the tv or in the unit beside the hi-fi and other consoles.
What really matters is the games, and how good the console can make these appear. If you are that bothered about size maybe it comes down to personal reasons : 0)
