#115 for Crystal XBOX... not bad, aye?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ViewItem&category=20387&item=8101010615*ebayphotohosting
(sorry, couldn't 'link')

It's a Crystal XBOX BOX! Somebody has gone and paid #115 for the actual box.

Either they didn't know what they were buying, or are incredibly stupid....

I think that the vendor (or ebay) could be prosecuted under the trade descriptions act if, and when, the transaction is completed. Whilst they do make some reference to the fact that the box will "make people think that you have an xbox" the main blurb is too misleading (for the majority of simple minded folk, 6 billion people) and therefore people are not bidding for the product that they think they are.

There is knock down price and then there are offers so low that they are offensive. My auction is at £75 with almost 4 days remaining.

If you had those items up for sale, then it isn't the buyers fault for trying to buy those items at that knock down price, that's whole point of auctioning, you put it on to sell for the best price, and you put a reserve at the lowest you will accept for them :D

I could see why someone would pay £115 for the Xbox Crystal Box, my brother got one today, it's a rather funky colour fo grey :D

Furthermore there are numerous opportunistic buyers looking to pull a fast one, including one chump who offered me £65 postage inclusive for my GBA SP + Golden Sun + Zelda pack.

I wanted to tell him where he could shove his offer, but offending ebayers can be detrimental.

The only people who are at risk on ebay is people who are stupid. If the guy had read the auction properly paying particular attention to "Use it to impress your friends by making them think you have a spiffing brand new crystal xbox sat at home" he wouldnt have bought a cardboard box for £115.

There are a few dodgy characters on ebay, just like there are dodgy shops, but the majority of the time thses idiots are their own worst enemy.

I dont know why Ebay doesn't have a phone service, it would make problems so much easier to sort out. A recent Ebayer tried to buy my camcorder, he/she was pretending to be Irish but was really in America. He definately wasn't english because hes grammer was terrible (you'd expect better from an adult). He/she (I think it was a He but he did have a womans name) also had a dodgy Escrow site, I've never used Escrow and too be honest i dont even know what it is but i knew it was an Escrow scam.

I would tell you more about this story but i have two problems :

1) My fingers hurt.

2) Trying to keep you all awake.

I wont name the buyer because im not 100% sure that he/she was dodgy.

I don't understand why so many people use Ebay anyway, the expensive box is an example of how dodgy it can be, and if things do go wrong, Ebay take naff all to do with it. It's much safer just going to a shop or buying from reliable sites, they may be a little more expensive, but at least you aren't going to be ripped off.
