The only thing that bothers me about this is the name change.

It would be beneficial for Sammy.
After all, release the games in the arcades, then later release them on the consoles. Make more money for the same game.

Your groundless optimism does grate sometimes.
It could work the other way, Sammy could learn to like Nintendo.
Rumour is Sammy is trying to push Sega away from consoles and back to Arcades, and also away from Nintendo who they hate. Is this why we haven't seen many GC SEGA titles at E3? All the software teams are being shuffled again. At this rate we'll never see a Skies 2.

I first caught wind of this when the DC went of the market. So basicly that was when they were thinking of merging.
