Having the import option adds a whole new lease of life to the PS2 as you don't only have access to the very dull European PS2 release scheudle but instead have tons of great games that never see the light of day over here. Plus the RPG's are far better, Star Ocean 3 is the one i'm waiting for the most
Or dont they have Freeloader for the PS2, if not, ignore me.
a chip is my best bet. but i don't intend to cheat the system by doing pirates.
Sorry thought u were talking about getting a import US PS2 or a japanese one. My mistake

yes....... WHAT!
are there 2 different types of chips? if so i think it's quite clear that i would get a US one.
online isn't big for me. i just want to see what these good foreign games are.

Don't know if you like baseball but MVP Baseball 2004 is a very good game and if you like RPG's i'll run you off a list right now to get. FPS games are quite a rare breed where us Europeans actually get well treated in as most games that are made come from either America or Europe. Guess the Japanese aren't as violent as us lot :-D

Mostly, they get a hell of alot more then Europeans do anyway. There's still a couple of great games they miss out on and stay in Japan (also you have the crazy, quirky japanese games that don't get released because there isn't really a big market to warrant the cost of making it for an overseas market.
If you could only have one of the 2 then i'd say go for the US just because basically you can understand it, the only thing you have to worry about with their translations is a few U's missing here and there and there's not really a massive gap inbetween the time it takes for a game to come out in america after it's release in Japan like we have here, while with the Japanese games you actually have to learn the language
FPS, sports or good non-completely japanese style games (zelda, etc. yes. onimusha no)
do they have the same games as japan?
