Watched Newsround the other night and the childrens news show criticised the complex modern gaming. It then showed off Mario Party 5 before featuring a quote from Satouri Iwata about how gaming needs to evolve and become more fun, it's not about the graphics.

What a pointless but incredibly pro-Nintendo news article.

Kids by Gameboys because they aren't ashamed of them and go on holiday with their parents and forced to visit their Gran.

Adults that have them are in the minority and are hardcore gamers.

The DS appeals to kids with the low price point and classic children software. The PSP appeals to the casual adult gamer.... they exist yes... but a casual adult handheld gamer... does not.

It goes back to what someone said a few weeks ago in this forum, fair enough the Gameboy is the biggest selling handheld console, but i havent seen anyone playing them in public for ages, and PSP buyers will probably end up doing the same, i can hardly see the Sony label changing this trend.

The problem with the PSP is that essentially its a just portable PS2 come Media player, and with the huge number of people that own a PS2, i cant see many people buying another version of a console that they already have, except for those with more money than sense. Well thats my opinion anyway...

It might, it might not. Personally I believe the GBA SP with the cheap price and classic software will still end up on top.

The handheld world can only really feature 2 consoles (so can the home console market to be truthful but not impossible for 3)... only 2 consoles can viably survive. If the DS and GBA SP are the main 2 in the handheld world by 2006 then I'm afraid N-GAGE, Sony etc... will have to walk the plank.

Guardian had a nice bit about the DS in it's Online supplement. They seemed to think it was going to be able to easily whup the PSP.

But a feature on the PSP or the DS is normal.

But a feature on Nintendo's belief.

That's just twisted.

Not really, it was in the Metro too. It's just E3 fall out. They also did a feature on the PSP.
