for one thing you can rest assured that nintendo will always make good games that would appeal to all ages....your a PS2 bloke right??, well put it this way
the Xbox is more powerful than your precious PS2, im not saying that a more powerful console makes better games, but the fact that it will be the most powerful console will give developers more room to play with and will be able to make graphically stunning games with hopefully gameplay to equal the graphics....take Halo for instance
Nintendo are Gods at making games and the gamecube will be the second most powerful console around, and the fact that theres gonna be a mariokart game on it will boost sales alone.....plus if you do some research you would know that there are many wonderfull games coming out on both consoles.....the decent games on PS2 to my knoledge are GT3, metal gear solid 2, final fantasy 10 and tekken 4....excuse my ack of knoledge about PS2 games releases as i have no interest in the console.
plus the two console will be hard to pirate for..its not like sony have done anything to stop piracy for their consoles.....it took about 4 weeks and there was PS2 MOD chips and games available....what does that say about sonys security system??
for one thing the Xbox cannot be taken apart by an amateur, it must be a trained technitian, as the motherboard snaps if you try to take off the case as a saftey measure to ensure no fiddling with the motherboard. the gamecube doesnt have any real security system, but the fatc that the games are on small DVDs make them hard to copy as the facility wont be available in a long time..
so the moral of this story is......
do research before slaggin off a console or game!

Honestly though I don't think that you've given this topic much thought, have you?
The Playstation 2 will have been available on these shores for around 18 months when the GAMECUBE and Xbox are released, and will have sold a considerable amount of units, especially if the price drops before Christmas.
The GAMECUBE will struggle to even catch the amount of sales that the PS2 has had, so it will never leave it far behind. It may well sell as many units, maybe more, but the headstart that the PS2 has had will make it very difficult to leave behind.
Fortunately Nintendo are prety much guarenteed some sales from the ytounger end of the market. If they want to compete with the Sony and Microsoft they have to show that they have the games that those in the late teens to early twenies (with plenty of money) will want to play, as that's the Playstation 2 and thwe Xbox's market.
Nintendo ARE trying to become a player in this market, buying stakes in companies that will bring exclusive titles to the GAMECUBE that are geared towards a more 'mature' audience, such as Silicon Knights who are working on Eternal Darkness and Too Human.
Eternal Darkess looks like it could add something new to the survival horror theme, with you having to keep on top of yor mind too, as the horrors you see will slowly turn you insane if you don't overcome them.
Too Human also has a lot of promise. I've heard that it is a dark RPG with an emphasis on emotion, so rather than simply killing everyone you come into contact with you will want to find other solutions to the problems.
Retro Studies are also working on games that certainly won't be for kids, but will appeal to teenagers, and older gamers. Games like RavenBlade, an RPG, have a much more grown up look than the likes of Zelda. Metroid will also be popular with the slightly older gamer, especially if the First Person approach is successful.
Nintendo mustn't however abandon the market that has made them successful, and that it younger gamers too. Games like Pikmin and Luigi's Mansion have that classic Nintendo look to them, and will inspire gamers young and old!
I honestly believe that Nintendo will be successful in the next generation, but also believe that it would be foolish to dismiss the competition so easily.
PS2 is already a success, and it looks like there are some truely special games on the way. It may have had a bit of a shakey start, with many criticising the luanch, and initial games, but with GT3 and Metal Gear Solid 2 much closer now, and a host of other AAA class games on the shelves, and on the way, it's a great console to own.
The Xbox has failed to inspire me, but others are very excited by it, and believe that it could herald the dawn of a new age in console gaming. If the Xbox can get some strong, exclusive games, then it has a very good chance of being successful.
Personally I believe that the market's big enough for all three, and I don't think we'll see a clear winner. What does it matter anyway, as long as you enjoy the games available on the console, or consoles of your choice.
