In fact why do we need any?
I personally like PS2 and own one. I will not be buying Gamecube or XBox.
We don't need to go into all the babble about which one is the best. It's just down to personal choice. The PlayStaion wasn't the "best" console but it was still popular.
All these topics achieve is which person can sl*g off the other consoles the most - pointless.
We should all be happy that there will be three consoles to choose from next year.

The mini disks are the same as DVDs. If I was to take a DVD and physically cut it to the size of a mini-disk it would retain all of its storage capabilities (to scale obviously). DVD-Rs aren't particularly hard to come by and the price will tumble as soon as the recordable DVD players start hitting these shores (scheduled for this autumn).

And as I've said - the Dreamcast's cracking is rummored to have come from within. They undoubtedly had some inside help otherwise there isn't a hope in hell they would have managed to discover how to read from the GD-ROMs and get their hands on the necessary kit.
With regards to the technicians comments - I already know of one Dutch retailer holding order forms for all the necessary documentation and equipment for X-Box maintaince. I only know this as a fact as he is a mate - no doubt many other contentinental retail/repair out lets will have the same information. These people get it as Microsoft subcontract the repairs. They will still on paper be official Microsoft Repair Units, but they won't actually be owned by Microsoft. Do you really think one of these people won't be tempted (either by the glory of doing it themselves or the cash offered by another) - as has happened numerous times in the past? Even with Microsoft Owned repair shops - someone will be similarly tempted. Think otherwise is unbelievable. As is thinking the risk of a "snapping motherboard" will stop the numerous keen code shops out there.
Now, my comments are backed by following trends that have happened with every console ever released - yours seem only protected by naievity.
appologies this was actually a typo

Ah! that's better!
Sorry if I was a bit over the top there, I thought that you WERE questioning my knowledge, without having any prior knowledge about me!
ok lets start again....
firstly my real name is Rob
secondly i get very little of my information form posted messages, although credit is due when i see it.....
thirdly have any of you actually read the full specs of the Xbox and the Gamecube????......if you did and you understood them, then weigh up the Pros and Cons of the architecture you should then understand that the gamecube is marginally less in performance and overall power......
fourth point...were my words that i was a BIG SHOT COMPUTER SCIENCE STUDENT??????, i think not
now the main article.
Meka dragon i have not read any of your past postes and i appologise if i have repeated anything you have already stated..
>so the moral of this story is......
>do research before slaggin off a console or game!
Very true, and quite ironic, considering that you didn't even follow your own advice! You clearly didn't read the post properly.
Asking me to do research is just stupid! I know as much about the GAMECUBE and it's games as anyone else on these forums. Just because I try to offer an unbiased opinion, it doesn't make me poorly informed!
an unfair statment as i have not read any of your past postes and i do lots of research as i am an insider for IGN and i do follow my own rules..
>and though im doubting meka dragon knowledge,
Ask anyone on the forums how stupid this comment is! I readily admit that I'm not a specs man, and as a result of that I don't even try to draw conclusions on the consoles based upon the hardware. I also admit that I care not for the Xbox as of yet. I don't think that it is being geared towards me, as I have yet to come across any promotion whatsoever.

Being a big shot Computer Science student I thought you'd know that one of the main reasons anaylysists have cited for the Playstation's success was how easy it was to pirate.
true.....its also lame because of that, plus how much money do you think they lost on games???? which is the main influx of money??
Being a big shot Computer Science student I'd expect you to know that copying DVDs has been possible for over a year now. The fact that the disk is smaller is neither here nor there.
.....ohh dear, the disks are hard to come by and are expensive.....does that help my case that its hard to pirate for??? yes it does
i am aware of the DVD copying capabilities, but i meant for the mini disks!!!!!!!!!!

your comments about the Xbox security system si below par....do you honestly think that microsoft will have a leek????, and do you honestly think that microsoft are going to happily give away the only tool capable of pirating their first console???? that would be laughable....
all repairs would be done by microsofts technitians, thats right but thats why there is a microsoft building in the UK and there are offices all over europe, so i expect that you would just send the console there.......not that hard is it???
plus do you hoestly think that microsoft would employ a company that is untrustworthy to carry out foreign repairs???, unlikely, besides security would be tight on it......remember that not much info was released ont he Xbox until the project was nearly compleated.....and for one thing the correct tool to open the case of the Xbox is not necessarily a screwdriver....as i said before the motherboard snaps the instant the case is slightly removed......dont ask me wht the tool is as they dont release that kind of info to the grneral public.
now if anyone would like a real disscusoin about this matter (you are very welcome to meka dragon) then please do so but if you are going to critisise me then go ahed but make sure its a valid reason as i will conceed if applicabel and acknowledge credit where due
> the gamecube will be the second most powerful
> console around
Being a big shot Computer Science student I'd thought you'd know all about how it is totally impossible to compare the power of the three consoles as they have three totally different architechures. It'd be like comparing chalk and cheese.
> plus the two console will be hard to pirate for..its not

Being a big shot Computer Science student I thought you'd know that one of the main reasons anaylysists have cited for the Playstation's success was how easy it was to pirate.
> for one thing the Xbox cannot be taken apart by an

Being a big shot Computer Science student (either that, or being able to think any way logically what-so-ever) you'd realize that it wouldn't be amateur's working on the MODs. The screwdrivers needed to remove the case and the documentation required can be obtained direct from Microsoft by many of their more technichally savy foreign retailers (who will be required to carry out maintance on consoles on Microsofts behalf). Obtaining the kit from them should only require a little bung, ignoring the fact that it is traditionally these very people who manage to crack the consoles. Oh - and "security" screws aren't particularly reliable and have been by passed uncountable times in the past - be they on other consoles or on other home consumables, such as DVD players and satalite boxes.
Or

Being a big shot Computer Science student I'd expect you to know that copying DVDs has been possible for over a year now. The fact that the disk is smaller is neither here nor there.
