Okay, so I know this isn't exactly original but I'm curious as to what your favourite film is. No, I'm not talking to THEM, I'm talking specifically to YOU. So, what is your favourite film?

Mine is HEAT. Absolutely fantastic. Brilliantly directed, never boring and a great cast. Unfortunately, the ending isn't as great as it could have been. Still the best film ever though.

Was it John Carpenter, yeah? You can always tell by that great music in his films.

Assault on Precinct 13, ha, that was hilarious. The secratary and that criminal. That was so funny. The cigarette and the light.

The Matrix has an awful story - compare it to the 4th and 1st Star Wars films and you'll find that they are practically identicle. Oh - and where e-x-a-c-t-l-y was the good acting? I've watched the film maybe ten times and never noticed it. Great no-brains action film, yes. Anything other than that? Not in my book.

Just as I mentioned it in another thread my favourite film of all time is Rear Window. The people involved just fall perfectly into my favourites. Alfred Hitchcock - one of my favourite directors of all time. Everybody knows of Psycho, but what about Rear Window? North by Northwest? Even Vertigo is getting increasingly over looked. Then you've got Jimmy Stewart. How can you not like him? Don't you just want him to be your uncle and tell you funny stories of his adventures? Fantastic actor and propper Hollywood. Then Grace Kelly. Ohhhh Grace Kelly, a true Princess in every sense of the word. A true star too - looked amazing, actually had tallent, unbelievably glamorous life with fablious love scandles (and probably the most fitting celebrity Marriage ever - huge star and a King, what would the tabloids do for that today?) and a tragic, sudden death.

There all together in this wonderful, wonderful film. Literally a film that grabs your attention and just doesn't let go. Doesn't achieve that effect with cheap tricks either, does it with a well scripted story and characters you care about, though may dislike slightly.

Call me a conventionalist (or something that means something like that) but I have got to say that The Matrix is the best film ever made.
It has everything. Special Effects, top actors, good plot and it keeps you thinking.
In my opinion the person who thought up that storyline is a genius. I normally like stuff that isn't completely and utterly fictional in the sense that something like whats going on in the film could actually happen in real life. And although the idea of the matrix is a completely wacky one, who knows if that is actually what exists on earth. Ok it's a bit far fetched, but lets be honest, it isn't completely impossible. It is a film that gets you thinking. Being a bit of a computer boff terminator got me thinking as well, about how Artificial intelligence could one day take over the world, but thats a completely different subject.

If anyone knows of a film with a similar effect on it's viewers then please post, so i can look it up.

First of all, when do you ever cry during The Matrix or when does anyone in the film cry? Never. Exactly.
Secondly.....does it really make you think whether this world is real. I think not.

And to Tarrant. In The Princess Bride, what is the hero's name? Is it Wesley? It's been bugging me for days now. I need to know.

the top movie of all time in my opinion would have to be the 'The matrix'. i'll start with the plot, from the moment it starts it grips you. every second of the film keeps you in suspence. There are alot of surprises in this film, theres laughter and theres tears.but i supose that whats make a good movie. the matrix makes you think......is this world real? or is it just a made up world to hide us from the truth. it is amazing how the whole of the film comes together to make the most fantastic plot. This film is not for the faint hearted. this film is a nail biting experience the whole way through. overall i would give this film a whoping 10
