Post any films you have seen recently (cinema, DVD or TV) along with a short review.

Fast and the Furious 3: Tokyo Drift

7/10

Its rubbish really. The story is pathetic and the set pieces are unbelievable (the Japanese Yakuza settling a problem with some punk kid by having a car race? I dont think so), but the only reason you would go to see this film is for the cars anyway and the races all look great. It was as fun to watch as the other two, possibly even better than #2 and there is a nice surprise at the end for fans of the series.

If you are wanting some great acting, a heart wrentching story and some brilliantly detailed drama, then this isnt for you. If you want Japanese girls in short skirts driving customised sports cars then I think you'll love it.

Prophecy 7/10
Not the horror movie with Christopher Walken. This is a horror movie about waste from a paper mill that mutilated woodland creatures including a bear. It was not that great of a movie and it is a bit surprising that it was rated PG because of the violence.

The Substitute 6/10

Blown Away 10/10

Machete 10/10
A great movie from the same company that made Death Proof and Planet Terror. The only time I have seen more over-the-top blood and violence in a movie that i can remember is in a horror movie.

The New Kids 8/10

Cut 9/10
A slasher movie and a fantasy (the fantasy part doesn't come till closer to the end).

The Long Weekend 6/10
Pretty bad, especially the ending.

Smokin' Aces 9/10
Anything but a bad movie but I couldn't tell half of what was going on most of the time

It was taken from a Morrisey song.

I believe I have heard of Let The Right One In, I just didn't know it and Let Me In had anything to do with each other. On a different note, I watched The Substitute yesterday. Not the action movie, the 2007 horror film about the children who find out that their substitute teacher is an alien. A lot different from what I had imagined it and was not a very good movie.

:-)

All about marketing I guess. I must admit "let the right one in" doesnt sound right to me. It seems like some awkward translation.

Reminds me of The Ghost actually. Released in the US as a film called The Ghost Writer and released here as The Ghost. As though they had to be really explicit for the US market what the film was about.

According to the IMDB it was unbelievably renamed for the reason I stated :

''The first American edition of the book was called Let Me In (2007) as the publishers found the title too long, but it is now out in both the UK and the USA under the title, Let the Right One In.''

Makes you wonder how the publishers thought American's were going to be able to read the entire book if they presumed that they couldn't manage 5 words!

Inferior in every way to the original

I actually liked both versions of the film (own them both) as well as the book. For once I didn't think the US remake was massively inferior although it would have been better without the dodgy CGI. Both versions were well made and well acted IMO. Another similar film I enjoyed was The Devil's Backbone, worth a watch if you've not seen it.

I didn't know there was more than one version of Let Me In.
