Any suggestions for the best British band currently active? Most of the bands I listen to are American, but I don't believe that's necessarily a reflection on the lack of talent at home. It's just that a lot of record companies over here don't give bands time to mature and develop.

I'd have to give a vote to Pitchshifter - a consistently great band over the last ten years. And to the Lostprophets - a 'new' band that should be huge. Leaning more to the mainstream, maybe Radiohead or Muse?

If a decent band like Muse can come from a place like Teignmouth (no insult, it's a nice place, just not centre of the RAWK universe), then who knows what else is hidden out there.

In fact I'm going to start a band this moment. The Tofu Fighters. Catch us while you can!

Origin is a lot more rick and roll.

Showbiz is....ok. (personal opinion here)
I just think they were too much trying to be Radiohead on that one, denying their riffular angst.

As today is payday I'm going to order the new Muse album. :-)

On the subject of British bands I'm a fan of Ash and The Bluetones. And Blur and Pulp.

And Mansun too.

And the Super Furries, but I've already mentioned them.

And I still believe that the Supernaturals are amonst the finest bands to come out of Scotland in recent years. Always gaurenteed to bring a smile to my face.

Honestly, I'm not stuck in 1997.

Idlewild are cool.

Origin of Symmetry rules.

Showbiz also rules.

Tough choice.

My friend found something very funny on Napster (or another music related site) the other day. He was earching for that fine French band Air, but the match that came up was:

DAS FRESCH PRINCE VON BEL AIR

I just thought that was worth mentioning.

I know they're not British, but The Avalanches are one of my favourite groups at the moment.

Crazy like a coconut.

Cripes, I almost spelled coconut a hideously wrong way just them, use your imagination.

Their Showbiz album was Radiohead lite - very unoriginal (check out Falling and Sunburn).

However, they have discovered fuzz-boxes, minor-chords and the ability to RAWK OUT DUDE

They are now good, whilst Radiohead promptly hid up their own butts.

"You're swelling up you're insufferable....."

They should leave the classical riffs alone though, Vanessa Mae territory.

Imagine Cop shoot Cop (FANTASTIC BAND), Radiohead, Led Zepplin mixed up and shaken.

Rick and Roll
