Way, way, way back in a forum far, far - ok cut the mumbles.

Back at Christmas Time Fantasy Meister was a generous sort - he came up with the plan that we should donate our gameaday wins to Charity - to the Great Ormand Street Hospital - so that kids suffering at Christmas time, stuck in the boredom of wards and nurses could be somewhat relieved - an excellent idea and they were very grateful - it was a brand spanking new PS2 with donated games from teh members who had won - films were also donated.

Although at the time I did win a game and COULD have given it to them, I felt they had enough and so just so I could feel I was doing something for a good cause I gave £30 to the NSPCC - an equally good cause.

Now, just think - you may be bored this summer, you maybe so bored that you come online and tell everyone over MSN how bored you are. I hate that attitude, and at least 3 people I know havethe name BORED. Ok so Leighton Buzzard is the most riviting of places, you should certainly not plan a visit here - unless you're coming to see me, but there is plenty to do.

I'm trying to say that although YOU may be slightly bored for a day or too - maybe Hen Tinman won't progress that far in Wimbledon, so you may get bored for a couple of hours - don't complain about it. Do something about it.

I have found that these discussions forums eleviate boredom levels. Superb! But I always try to never be bored.

Think for a minute - this summer, in the wonderful heat that some hate now, but will want back when it rains, and snows, can be enjoyed - you can go outside for a run, swim, and the odd few can fly if they like. Great!

Now think of all those children who have to spend weeks - possibly months in hospital for one reason or another - and think how bored they must be.

Gaming is good for you and it can be good for them.

Thus, I propose that for a designated TWO WEEK period, all members who win GAD or FAD donate their prize to these children - let SR donate say a DREAMCAST + VIRTUA TENNIS etc (because a) it's cheaper and b) Virtua Tennis is fun) and we can choose to give our gameaway in the SUMMER GAMEAWAY!

You may think - argh but I never win - and then you win during that period. It is not obligatory to give your prize away - BUT believe me you will feel an awful lot better for doing so. And therefore Tony and Ali etc - the SR massive should allow this to take place.

You'll win again. I did - eventually, and I would be willing to donate my prize should I win.

Thanks for reading.

Let me know what you think.

Think - weeks of hospital, some children may never have another summer again. It's for them. C'mon.

Your regular bench press ay?

Anyway, back to the topic.

Like Dan, i've had the misfortune of being in line for a 'pod' and not having the patience to wait a turn. Sometimes, it's really annoying. Great example being a lushious new game...

Never tried again...

Now Tony has mentioned the safety concerns I can see that donating more PS2 games is probably the best option.

They'd cost about £300 and they're not a mainstream product, however I share your wanting one.

I also want a fourplayer Sega Rally 2 machine - how much would you really make!

So pods are the things that you might see in places like the Virgin Megastore or even in SR where you stand up and play the game for a taster?

If so I think SR should sell these. I'd buy one anyway.

It's a nice, generous idea lads, but in my view i'd never give a game away.

Not because, you know, I hate 'em or anything, but because my family are a bit on the 'poor' side of life. Therefor, winning a game and giving it away would be pure suicide.

Sorry.

Good idea though.

Just imagine the scene...

Kid leans over to the nurse. "Can I play that PS2 over there?"

Nurse goes and looks at the machine that the kid is pointing to, fumbles around for a minute and finds what she thinks is the on/off switch.

PS2 sign lights up for 2 seconds then plunges the room into darkness.

Whoops!

Hmmm a pod - that would be the display cabinet that the console is in allowing people to play on - in my experience the plugs have always been pulled out so I could never play!

Ok then Tony - but seriously, we should do something! Maybe an NSPCC thing then? We donate the GAD wins for SR to AUCTION so the money goes to the charity? It's again for the kids - this time for abused kids.

K?
