Way, way, way back in a forum far, far - ok cut the mumbles.

Back at Christmas Time Fantasy Meister was a generous sort - he came up with the plan that we should donate our gameaday wins to Charity - to the Great Ormand Street Hospital - so that kids suffering at Christmas time, stuck in the boredom of wards and nurses could be somewhat relieved - an excellent idea and they were very grateful - it was a brand spanking new PS2 with donated games from teh members who had won - films were also donated.

Although at the time I did win a game and COULD have given it to them, I felt they had enough and so just so I could feel I was doing something for a good cause I gave £30 to the NSPCC - an equally good cause.

Now, just think - you may be bored this summer, you maybe so bored that you come online and tell everyone over MSN how bored you are. I hate that attitude, and at least 3 people I know havethe name BORED. Ok so Leighton Buzzard is the most riviting of places, you should certainly not plan a visit here - unless you're coming to see me, but there is plenty to do.

I'm trying to say that although YOU may be slightly bored for a day or too - maybe Hen Tinman won't progress that far in Wimbledon, so you may get bored for a couple of hours - don't complain about it. Do something about it.

I have found that these discussions forums eleviate boredom levels. Superb! But I always try to never be bored.

Think for a minute - this summer, in the wonderful heat that some hate now, but will want back when it rains, and snows, can be enjoyed - you can go outside for a run, swim, and the odd few can fly if they like. Great!

Now think of all those children who have to spend weeks - possibly months in hospital for one reason or another - and think how bored they must be.

Gaming is good for you and it can be good for them.

Thus, I propose that for a designated TWO WEEK period, all members who win GAD or FAD donate their prize to these children - let SR donate say a DREAMCAST + VIRTUA TENNIS etc (because a) it's cheaper and b) Virtua Tennis is fun) and we can choose to give our gameaway in the SUMMER GAMEAWAY!

You may think - argh but I never win - and then you win during that period. It is not obligatory to give your prize away - BUT believe me you will feel an awful lot better for doing so. And therefore Tony and Ali etc - the SR massive should allow this to take place.

You'll win again. I did - eventually, and I would be willing to donate my prize should I win.

Thanks for reading.

Let me know what you think.

Think - weeks of hospital, some children may never have another summer again. It's for them. C'mon.

It has been thought out - now go and read the message below yours - put yourself in that situation - HYPOTHETICALLY (I don't want a court case on my hands, ouch)

OK?

C'mon.

Less posts from Newbie's over the summer anyway - and we will be made aware of Summer Gameaway because TONY will ask er-no for another banner. er-no will win a game for the banner, and er-no will give his game to Summer Gameaway..

Ok, here's a few points.

If it's run in the summer for 2 weeks, you may only get 6 or 7 donations. Why? Well imply because some people may win for the first time and they may not want to doante their first win, whcih i can understand.

Also, some people win who may not know about the donaton thing, people who just come on, write one review, win and then never come back.

Whenever it's done i think it needs to last a month, to make it worhtwhile.

I personally think that the best time would be 20 th November to 20th december. There would be a number of donations during the month and hopefully they could get delivered by christmas day.

Don't get me wrong, i think it's a good idea and i will donate, but the timing needs to be thought out.

Yeah ok - but just think.

Put yourself in this situation. You're 13/14, you're about to go on holiday with your mates after a long hard year at Upper school, or something, and you can't wait to go away.

You're finished packing, and then you get hit by a car on the way to buy some tictacs (tictacs are nice). You get told you can't go on holiday as you'll be in hospital for at least three weeks. Gutting. Surviving may be the only thing on your mind at the time, but later, as you get better (hopefully) you'll get bored and wish you hadn't have seen that Tictac advert.

Think about it.

This HAS to happen. SUMMER GAMEAWAY must proceed.

I suggest a July 24th opening.

I'd do it when they can have a Gamecube.... PS2 games or an X-Box will make them feel even lower!

ARRRRRRRRRGHHH!

Hold on... there are going to be people who don't like videogames... what do we do about them?! We can't leave them out.... Blind people?

Okay, so we can't cater for everyone BUT we need to help where we can!

Agreeably, summer is more sensible, but Christmas is a better idea. Think about it, most of us will be getting a load of games from our parents that time of year so we will be more willing to give away the games. Those who are 18+ and don't get presents as such from their parents will probably have jobs anwya. Also, it's much better to at Christmas, when we're all in the mood.

I think Tony or Ali originally said they were thinking of doing this again at Christmas anyway, after we finished last years charity giveaway and some people felt they missed out by not winning a game and donating it.

As I said, I'm happy to do it at any time, but perhaps YH is right and it should be only once a year.

But then, it's really up to Tony in the end, isn't it?

It was only an idea to have it at christmas. I don't mind when it is, as long as know so i can donate my games.

I don't want to not now, claim a game for me and miss the chance of donating.

It would probably be easier to do it from either the 1st of July or August for a fortnight, or even a whole month?

Worm lights you idiot!

They'll need link cables, cases, mains adaptors... this could cost a pretty penny!
