Way, way, way back in a forum far, far - ok cut the mumbles.

Back at Christmas Time Fantasy Meister was a generous sort - he came up with the plan that we should donate our gameaday wins to Charity - to the Great Ormand Street Hospital - so that kids suffering at Christmas time, stuck in the boredom of wards and nurses could be somewhat relieved - an excellent idea and they were very grateful - it was a brand spanking new PS2 with donated games from teh members who had won - films were also donated.

Although at the time I did win a game and COULD have given it to them, I felt they had enough and so just so I could feel I was doing something for a good cause I gave £30 to the NSPCC - an equally good cause.

Now, just think - you may be bored this summer, you maybe so bored that you come online and tell everyone over MSN how bored you are. I hate that attitude, and at least 3 people I know havethe name BORED. Ok so Leighton Buzzard is the most riviting of places, you should certainly not plan a visit here - unless you're coming to see me, but there is plenty to do.

I'm trying to say that although YOU may be slightly bored for a day or too - maybe Hen Tinman won't progress that far in Wimbledon, so you may get bored for a couple of hours - don't complain about it. Do something about it.

I have found that these discussions forums eleviate boredom levels. Superb! But I always try to never be bored.

Think for a minute - this summer, in the wonderful heat that some hate now, but will want back when it rains, and snows, can be enjoyed - you can go outside for a run, swim, and the odd few can fly if they like. Great!

Now think of all those children who have to spend weeks - possibly months in hospital for one reason or another - and think how bored they must be.

Gaming is good for you and it can be good for them.

Thus, I propose that for a designated TWO WEEK period, all members who win GAD or FAD donate their prize to these children - let SR donate say a DREAMCAST + VIRTUA TENNIS etc (because a) it's cheaper and b) Virtua Tennis is fun) and we can choose to give our gameaway in the SUMMER GAMEAWAY!

You may think - argh but I never win - and then you win during that period. It is not obligatory to give your prize away - BUT believe me you will feel an awful lot better for doing so. And therefore Tony and Ali etc - the SR massive should allow this to take place.

You'll win again. I did - eventually, and I would be willing to donate my prize should I win.

Thanks for reading.

Let me know what you think.

Think - weeks of hospital, some children may never have another summer again. It's for them. C'mon.

Hmmmm.... I think that maybe giving more games to the GOSH is a better idea. I mean it wouldn't cost much as we can't suport everyone. We wouldn't even scratch the surface.

Maybe a second wave of PS2 games... there are bound to be a top-quality library of games for the S2 platform by Christmas time anyway!

When is MGS2 out?

Its a good idea, well just have to wait and see what Tony decides is the best course of action. Safety in hospitals is of upmost importance, so we cant just do something like this without thinking about the consequences. Each PS2 would need a pod, and SpecialReserve probably dont have any spare pods.

However the idea is good so whenever Tony gives the go ahead i.e. Summer or Christmas we can add our support then.

Here's what I suggest we donate:

5 PS2s: £270 x 5 = £1350
2 6-way multiplug: £26.99 x 2 = 53.98
6 iLink cables: £12.99 x 6 = £77.94
6 copies of GT3: £34.99 x 6 = 209.94

Total: £1784.92

By my reckoning we have to go with GAD and FAD for 32 days or just without GAD for 44 days. What do you think?

Checked to make sure they work before theyre auctioned. Donating a game may be the best idea.

C'mon YH and all.

Ok, I'll, go with the summer, but i think it should be a month, for the reasons i've already said.

How about 1st July for a month?

You probably won't believe me, but I'll tell you anyway. Over the past few days I have had a new, better outlook on life - it's for living. I've been discussing on the forums so much recently as you will be able to tell from my soaring word and post count.

Now, for instance, the topics I have suggested that Time Warp and er-no write about - i.e their challenges, both won and I was pleased - really I was, because I know that if I had written them, they would not have one (Not being bigheaded, but I am sure I could have made them as good as er-no's and Time Warp's - they were very good I suppose).

Okay, so helping them has helped them. Are they happier? Yes.

If this proposal takes place I will be happy because it will help these children pass the summer - their boring summer trapped in a hospital - some kids with cancer, may never see another summer - maybe they'd feel happier by us giving them something to keep them from shear boredom? I am sure they would - and the feeling that we have helped them in some small way - even if the auction idea takes place instead, that feeling that you helped someone less fortunate than yourself is a great feeling.

You will want to experience that feeling - believe me - I am sure many people have (now people, don't reply with loads of "I sponsored a whale messages").

Ok.

And the auctions, could work easily. We win. SR auction the game - we may even end up paying for the games, but if they are charity auctions then great.

OKay.

Time to not snore, but sleep.

For a good cause and all, respect etc. But, Dan, what's your motive for doing this? Not that I mind at all.

AUCTIONS!!! Donate a game to an SR Auction bin - they auction them and some £400 could be raised to go to a good cause.
