I agree it would be nice to have analogue control - would make it possible for Super Mario 64 to be properly ported to handheld - which I'd love to happen.
However, my theory is that they're going to include it in the next version of Game Boy, claim it's one of their new innovations, and people will go "wow".
However, even I know Nintendo should be including an analogue stick with this unit - therefore it might backfire on them (even if I am getting a DS anyway).

Maybe the d-pad is analogue - like the PS2 d-pad. Or maybe I'm wrong...
The touch screen itself works in a sorta analogue way...

I think after a touch screen we are asking a bit much to have analogue control stick as well. Just over-complicating the thing with options.
