MS commented on it a while ago, so we DO know actually.
The Gameboy is not a controller either, and the DC controller did have a screen if you put the VMU in it.

Yes, but there's a difference between commenting on something and officially confirming something. I have yet to see/hear an official confirmation that the next Xbox will be backwards compatible. If such proof exists, I stand corrected.

EDIT - Well actually, they're part console, part controller, so it's true to an extent...

When the disc tray opens up it should be able to swing to one side revealing a row of missiles :D
