Yeah, I think Brotherhood of Steal was an attempt by Interplay to try and break the console market and make some more, much needed money. I haven't played it, but by the looks of things, they really needn't have bothered.

Ooooo excellent!
I heard about the stupid console version being made ages ago, I didn't realise another new Fallout was being made that was a proper RPG.

I have to confess, I liked Dark Alliance. :-) Although only played in 2-player mode, I would imagine it could get a little boring in single player. It didn't claim to be anything but a watered down version of Baldur's Gate, so certainly wouldn't condemn it for being so.
The games themselves look very different to one another:

Fallout 3: Brotherhood of Steel
It's some watered down tripe that's being released on PS2/Xbox.
Think Baldur's Gate, now think of the crap-fest that is Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance on the consoles.
That is what they've done to Fallout.
I haven't played Fallout 1 but Fallout 2 the first RPG I was ever interested enough in to play through.
I did get Tactics too but that wasn't so RPG like and more of a squad-based-strategy-RPG hybrid, and was OK, but I did get bored of it quite fast.
The only thing is though, every time I've started a new game off on Fallout 2, I've had a strange urge to choose a female character...
Which does make it interesting when you sleep with Mr Bishop's wife. And all the prostitutes... They never let me work in the porn studios though, the bastuds.
I think I might acquire Fallout1 now.

As far as I'm aware, it's a full blown sequel to the original two fallout games, RPG style. I think they're taking over from Interplay who already started development on the game before they went bankrupt, I remember seeing some early shots of the game and it uses an impressive 3D engine.
Also, in PCGamer there's a rumour that Interplay might be looking to develop a MMORPG Fallout, though considering their financial state, I'd say that pretty unlikely.

Is that going to be a proper Fallout or is it going to be like Tactics?

'You cannot hit a small worm because you are effectively a 3 year old with a spoon'
The thing about Morrowind is that it's not realistic in it's pretense to be all about development - it's more you start off as a bloody embryo with fully grown limbs, rather than a bo standard 20 year old or whatever.
Sorry, but this was likely to happen!
