WARNING: This thread might freak some of you out!!

Yesterday, after having played countless hours of Counter-Strike and having enjoyed every second of it, I realised something very frightening, that computer games are SO similar to drugs.
This may not seem it at first, but trust me, by the end of this thread I promise to have made you more aware. Here are just a few similarities that are clearly obvious:

* Us gamers are becoming more and more addicted to games, even old games are amazingly addictive. Take Worms for example, or even Civilization II, they are so addictive I think I spent a total of a few weeks playing them. The similarity here is so clear I don't even have to explain, for those of you who still dont see, drugs are known to be addictive, yes?!

* Games damage our health so much. I think physically more than mentally as I don't believe games make you psycho killers from childhood. Our eyes are so affected we dont even realise it until we all end up with glasses or after we play for three hours and look away from the screen our eyes hurt like crazy. In other ways, drugs also damage our health A LOT as you all know, so another similarity.

* We become so deparate to buy the games that we buy them through the black market and it has become more evident that the issue of piracy is now widely spread. These games are all illegal and copying games is against the law. We rather use our money to buy new games than buy new clothes or something else other than compuetr stuffs. Same with drugs, most drugs are illegal, except things like aspirin. Drug takers go into a lot of trouble getting their drugs through illegal ways and drug dealers, which is a bit like the black market of the games industry.

* We are completly cut off from the outside world while playing games, and we forget about many things, like our family, and so leading to a divorce. With drugs, they also mess up your life big time creating a life of misery.

* If games are taken away from us we become very frustrated and angry, and we'll do anything in our power to get them back. Same with drugs, if they are taken away your body fails to respond and you are messed up basically.

----------------------------------

I would like to stop there and i hope i didn't freak anyone out that much!!
And yet, I'm sure after reading this thread everyone will go back to playing games as usual for hours and hours, sigh

Time_warp, you're top of the 'top 20 posters' in the mag, yet you're not in the top 10 gameaday winners? Have you actually won?
