As the most anticipated game of the year is released today, we need a place to discuss the happenings and to arrange games!

A few people asked for this to be created and so here we go.

Trusting everyone has their copy now, so let the fun begin tonight.

I, along with several others will be on Xbox but i know some are Ps3, but its the same game so no point in two threads!

Totally agree HM, ACOG far better choice:-)

On another matter - PC wise - played last night and at midnight had achieved alot of things I wanted to achieve, but server 'bombed'. This morning I checked and yes you've guessed it - got to do it all again.....:-(

However, the following info may help fellow sufferers - mine did reinstall:-)

Lost Multiplayer stats or rank

If you have recently lost stats or rank in this game, you may be able to recover this information as outlined:

Go to the Steam folder and find the Modern Warfare 2 install folder
Default location: C:Program FilesSteamSteamappscommoncall of duty modern warfare 2
Open the players folder
The multiplayer profile is updated regularly as a .stat file and also includes a backup file.
All original profile files begin with md202ef8d and backup files will begin with md202ef8d.bak
Locate the profile and backup .stat files with the most recent "Date Modified" listed in Windows
Move the profile .stat file to a new location (Creating a new folder and placing it here should be fine)
Rename the backup .stat file and remove the ".bak" from the filename
Launch Steam and re-test this game.

The ACOG is better than the thermal in all fairness. I can't seem to really get on with it. Useful for taking them out from distance though.

3 more attachments to go (FMJ, Shotgun and Extended Mags) and then another 10,000 XP will be mine. I't do-able I'm sure.

Anybody likely to bo online tonight?

Haha hippy, i'm getting slaughtered even with a Heartbeat sensor and a heat scope thingy. I can't aim with the heat scope, it's easier to hit people, but you have to steady it like a sniper :S Might just switch to good old red dot. I can't even control the ACOG scope ;S

Sadly none of my mates play mw2 online and no one on the game wants to talk to me or invite me to a game either. So if we go up against a bunch of pub stompers we're good as dead. Hardly anyone communicates making completeing missions difficult.

Without dedicated servers, most clans/communities simply can't play in private or have control of the environment. Got a hacker? you can't do anything until Vacs kicks in. Want to set up a private game where everyone gets decent pings? Tough luck. Got to hope both are local and they jump on.

If there was a mercernary sabotage and search and destroy, i would play those maps far more. But since there isn't i just go with ground war and check that there aren't people with similar tags in it. If there are, i'm off.

You and me together SB - dedicated servers are another issue with InfinityWard, many 'gamers' have also voiced their disagreement. As far as 'hacks' are concernded I haven't 'spotted' any yet but I feel that there are other issues with the 'levelling' system

I've achieved many, many things in MW2, but have never played online before MW2, but now I can really see the problem.

(Have read many articles over the years about online play - this problem, that problem etc etc and can now agree with most of them.)

What has totally 'wracked' me off was a guy last night giving it 'gob' online about "his tea being cold, you've got to have bath, he had to drop Mel off, no you've got a PS3 and DS and the computer is mine..........." and at the time I'm trying to play 'Terminal'...great stuff:-(

Apart from that, have really enjoyed some levels within 'FreePlay' and 'Team Deathmatch' and will be doing so again in a few minutes:-)

If there were dedicated servers, we might have a chance of banning them or stopping them playing.

I'm only on lvl 38. I've been preoccupied with other games and other things with life. I have come to a conclusion about my style of play:


I am rubbish at deathmatch.

I dominate in domination. I find myself on the top of most games in my team with the most captures. Although upon reflection, it isn't difficult to do.


Wish i play the other modes, but i'm so rubbish.

Apparently a hack was available about an hour after the PC version went online! The 'lack' of a command console in this version has been much maligned by the PC faternity, but yet again I've noticed that a hack is now available to reinstate the 'missing' console within MW2 - whatever:-)

Lv 62 now, getting near prestiege lol.

I had a couple of brilliant rounds on Capture the Flag, and Free, so i have made some good progress in little time.

FAL with ACOG and heartbeat sensor...

Fingers crossed I'll be quickly progressing through the ranks - especially if I have mr Chow Mein on my squad!
