If you think about it the amount of money that the games industry lose from second hand games must be a great in comparison to piracy.
If you walked in to an Electronics boutique or GAME store and saw the new game and a second hand alternative, no idiot would think twice about getting the second hand one unless they're loaded.
Who profits? Only the shop does and the money that the games industry could have made from that game goes to the shop.
Second hand games hurt the industry.
Do computer game shops need to draw out some kind of contract with the companies so they can profit from the sales? Has this been done already?

Most second hand games are in good working order and their manuals are hardly used.
I buy second hand games all the time, why buy the new one when you can get two for that price. I know this hurts the industry but it's happening on such a big scale that it does not matter.
I know people are willing to pay full price for the game but if most people saw the game for half price they would buy it over the original game

I think second hand games only hurt devolpers if they buy it instead of new.

I always buy new because there fairly cheap anyway but I have bought a couple of second hand games only because they were very very rare.

I buy brand new games all the time, even if I do find someone who will sell me that game second hand for cheaper I still dont buy it.

The reasons - if it is second hand it could be tatty (the disk could be scratched, the manual ripped, the box falling apart).
Usually you only want to sell your games when they get old. By this time shops probably wont sell that particular game anymore. I dont buy old games.
If the game is brand new, however, I still dont buy it. This could mean that the game wasn't very good. I dont buy pap games.
Or, the seller could have burned the game onto a new cd (obviously pirating) and then sold the real version to get some cash back. I dont buy off of pirates.

The question is: do you want your game to be in good working order - no scratches, a readable manual etc. or do you want to pick up a cheap copy of it where some features, if any in the game dont work because of a damaged CD. Then you have to guess how to actually play the game due to an unreadable manual, and you also have to find somewhere to store the game becaue the box is in pieces.

I want mine to be in good working order.

It could be thought of how you did as in the sales of second hand games actually harming the industry but if you look at it in another way it helps the industry. Kid 1 buys a game for £40, he plays on it for a month, gets bored and sells it for £25 to Kid 2. Sure Kid 2 could be harming the industry through not buying new games but he also helps it by giving Kid 1 money to buy another new game. Hope that wasn't too confusing.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
Brilliant service.
