If you think about it the amount of money that the games industry lose from second hand games must be a great in comparison to piracy.
If you walked in to an Electronics boutique or GAME store and saw the new game and a second hand alternative, no idiot would think twice about getting the second hand one unless they're loaded.
Who profits? Only the shop does and the money that the games industry could have made from that game goes to the shop.
Second hand games hurt the industry.
Do computer game shops need to draw out some kind of contract with the companies so they can profit from the sales? Has this been done already?

I guess they were lucky Shocktrooper. By the way how much did they pay for it. I only paid 12 pounds for mine although I saw them being sold for up to 40 pounds. Also when did they go as Pokemon G/S weren't out when I went away.

Has anyone seen the gameboy advance roms.

I know roms aren't always bad but I don't want to be seen promoting them

Hey rik-rik these Roms are not always poor. It depends on if the game has been released in England yet. If you download a game that has not been released yet the translation tends not to be finished that ruins the game. If you try downloading a snes game you will see the quality of roms. By the way I reccommend Chrono Trigger.

They are flash rom carts. The connect up to the PC and you can download illegal roms off the internet and transfer it to the cartridge. Most of these games are poor imitations of the game i.e see the latest issue of CVG

This has happened to me before Swish. I went to Majorca last year and I went in a shop that sold games. They had copies of Pokemon Gold/Silver too my surprise as the games had not even been released in America yet. I wasn't sure about the shop anyway but I bought it anyway.

Biggest mistake I have ever made. The text was only half translated really and everything was really flickery. Also the cartridge was black and not silver as it should have been. I took it back to the shop and tried to get my money back...they refused even though I had something that resembled a reciept. In the end it took my Dad coming down to sort it out.

Mind you before this happened I had bought one of those 24 in 1 cartridges. What you get is about 8 games but a few different names for it. One new games and 7 really old ones that you probably don't remember.

My advice is just dont buy them as they are more than likely to be a load of rubbish. Unless you can guarantee they are real dont buy them. My fake spotting hint is to look at the companies seal of approval ( I know Nintendo has one do sega or sony). Well I looked at all the games and found that the sealof approval wa the wrong shape. Also dont buy it unless you can test it while still in that country otherwise you are going to be unable to get a refund on it.

Actually, talking about piracy. Do you think games on cartridges cannot be copied?

Well they actually can.

About 3 weeks ago I visited Tenerife. Over there they have ALOT of electrical stores selling Cameras, Walkmans, watches, games, anything really.

I almost bought myself a Dreamcast (PAL) for 60 quid with two controllers, and that shop also did a PSone for 50 quid. Cheap, eh!

My sister wanted to get a cheap GBC (40 quid!). The guy advsied getting a game with it to get started off. We took a look at Pokemon, Mario, and other real games in the shop window. The owner of the shop then disappeared under his desk, and pulled out a black bin sack. Out of it he pulled a 20-in-1 GB cartridge. It had Pokemon Gold, Silver and yellow on it, some Mario titles, and some other older titles. This was blatently fake, although he didn't seem to think so. So how could you copy 20 real games onto 1 fake cartridge?

We declined the offer, and left the store.

I actually buy second hand games quite a lot. The reason being I didn't get the chance to buy all the games for my N64 over the years that I wanted due to the fact that if I did I would have needed to be a millionaire. NOw however I can buy the games I wanted second hand for about £10 each at Stock Xchange. Okay sometimes the box is slightly tatty but I dont really mind this much as it is the game that I want not a peice of cardboard (in the N64s case). Also it is very rare for a cartridge to not work unless someone has been at the connectors with a knife which is very obvious and the shop will be unlikely to buy it off the person selling it as they will probably be unable to sell it on.

Although if I owned a Ps1/2 I dont know if I would ever buy second hand games. The reasons being:1. Cds get scratched sometimes causing them not to work properly. Not always straight away as it depends where the scratch is on the Cd. 2. The case are made out of plastic that gets cracked. This makes you have no where to put the Cds which ends up in problem 1 occuring. So if I owned a console that used Cds I dont know if I woukd buy second hand games.

Using what I have just said I am guessing that all of the games I buy for the GC are going to be brand new unless I really do want the game.
