IGN:

"- Another ESRB update found its way into our inbox this morning, complete with some hints at upcoming XBLA games! The latest list of games which have been submitted for rating by the Entertainment Software Review Board included the two arcade classics, Fatal Fury Special and Tempest.

For anyone who doesn't remember, Tempest was a 1980 arcade game which saw players flying down a tube and shooting down the constant stream of enemies thrown their way. Tempest was one of the first games to feature a selectable difficulty level, and was a huge hit for Atari. Interestingly enough, the creator of Tempest, Jeff Minter, has his own XBLA game in development, Space Giraffe. The game bears some striking similarities to minter's arcade classic, so it'll be interesting to see if there is room for both games on XBLA.

Fatal Fury Special was announced for XBLA back around Tokyo Game Show 2006. The seminal Neo Geo fighting game was an update to Fatal Fury 2 that added three characters from the original game, as well as Ryo Sakazaki from SNK's other fighting series, Art of Fighting. The popularity of this guest appearance was said to lead to the introduction of the King of Fighters series. This inclusion of the game by the ESRB indicates that it will be coming our way soon enough.

As always, an ESRB listing isn't an official confirmation that a game is on the way, but is merely evidence that SNK and Atari have submitted the titles to receive ratings for the 360."

"Last Wednesday was a pretty big day for Xbox Live. Microsoft released a pair of downloadable games in the free side-scrolling shooter Aegis Wing as well as Soltrio Solitaire, and then there was the somewhat troubled launch of the Halo 3 beta. Today Microsoft announced the games given the unenviable task of following that up, as this week's Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday releases have been revealed as Rush 'n Attack and Xevious.

Developed by Namco and released in US arcades by Atari, the 1982 shooter Xevious puts players in the cockpit of a lone starfighter and Earth's last hope against an evil supercomputer. One of the first vertically scrolling shooters, Xevious gave players a pair of offensive options: standard gunfire to take out other flying targets and bombs to drop with precision on ground installations. Microsoft boasts that this Xevious is the first "100 percent arcade-accurate reproduction" of the game, complete with hidden towers, bosses, and 1-ups.

While Microsoft touts Xevious' similarity to the arcade edition as a selling point, the publisher is instead promoting the differences in the Xbox Live Arcade version of Rush 'n Attack. The Konami action game will arrive on Microsoft's downloadable game service with revamped graphics, music, and sound, as well as online play in both cooperative and competitive flavors. Gamers with a nostalgic bent for the arcade version of the game will also have the option of playing with the original graphics.

Both games will be available on Wednesday at 2 a.m. Pacific time, and each will sell for 400 Microsoft points ($5). Xevious is rated E for Everyone, while Rush 'n Attack is rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and older."

Yeah, the Aegis Wing thing is North America only which sucks big old donkey balls!

A complelty revamped version of the original Prince of Persia was shown for the first time by Ubi this week. It's still 2D but the graphics look identical to the ones in Sands of Time and the animations and controls have been given a complete makeover.

Looks really sweet!

Looking like it's "US only" on the shooter.

GS:

While it was originally spotted on the Entertainment Software Rating Board earlier this year, Microsoft kept mum on its Xbox Live Arcade game Aegis Wing until today, when it dropped a couple of smart bombs about the side-scrolling shooter.

First of all, Microsoft said the game would be free to download for all Live Silver and Gold users for a limited time. Second, it's going to be released this Wednesday at 2 a.m. Pacific time. Finally, the game is the product of a trio of students, conceived during a summer internship with Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade division and developed in conjunction with Carbonated Games (makers of Uno for Live Arcade).

Aegis Wing is a cooperative shooter where four players can take on an alien menace in experimental starships online or offline. During battle, players can join their ships together, letting one handle the piloting while the others fire away with superweapons accessible by attaching ships.

They might as well considering no proper games are getting released lately. This really has been a barren couple of months, hopefully Forza 2 won't get pushed back again

Settlers of Catan and Centipede and Millipede today

Can't say I'm interested in either of them, but it's nice that they're keeping up with these weekly double releases.
