My graphics card's a NVIDIA GeForce2, and "The Sims 2" works well on mine.

Impressed for a while then became bored, really bored. Got too repetitive and restrictive and got fed up pointing and clicking at the same things.
Downloaded a money cheat to see if being rich made things much better. Nope, still repetitive and a bit too dull.

The AI and design is pretty good and there is probably folk out there who love playing God and making their little families succesful etc but it just dosn't appeal to me much.

For the long term you'll probably want something with a little more punch, but that won't be until around next year when the more graphically enhanced game come along.

For now however, those are decent cards at a very good price. Similar to my Radeon pro, they should be more than capable of running The Sims 2 and pretty much anything else you have with little or no problems.

Decided to borrow this of a mate for a few days while he was at work. Interested to see just how good the AI was and the overall game design worked out. Quite impressed so far.

Didn't like the look of the first one at all so avoided it so I ain't really sure what your supposed to do, went through the tutorials and that helped a bit.
Could see a lot of kids spending days with this playing God.

Also noticed today on a download site there were mods for naked female skins and such like, rather sad considering when online your only ever a few clicks away from porn - whatever floats your boat I guess.

So what really is the aim of it? Is it just to play God and earn money to build bigger house with more stuff?

Onboard graphics cards are for people who don't play PC games, you need something like one of the Radeon 9000 series. I got a Radeon 9600 pro for little over £100, a bargain as far as graphics cards go, and it's run everything from Far Cry through to Doom 3 with the details right up.

That windows advicer thing is great. I found out my computer can play Final Fantasy 11!!! I found that strange considering it also said The Sims 2 was not compatible (it was slightly under the minimum specs) ODD!

It'll work, but unless you have a 2.0GHz processor, then they'll be slowdown and crap graphics.

If you have a 2.0GHz processor then it'll play alright, but have crap graphics.

Pretty much the same as mine, I had a crappy graphics card and a 1.7GHz processor which made the game look and play crap, so i bought a Radeon 9600 card and it works fine. The best graphics and more than capable of playing it.
