Being a bit old school when it comes to games I would have to say that my favourite would be Elite on the C64. Blimey that’s ages ago he's mad I hear you cry, but at the time it kept it’s side of the game agreement very well for me.
Graphically speaking it is of course ancient, though Vector graphics were a fantastic new innovation then so it seemed wondrous. The sound was three channels of strange zapping noises which added nothing to the game by today’s high expectations for a software title, but then what could you expect from the mid eighties, the pop music around then was about the same.
No it was the simplicity of the game combined with a strange addictive quality that held me in throng, days flew by moving my Cobra MkIII from system to system selling anything and everything. I seem to remember that it mostly ended up as running furs from rich agricultural planets to Rich Industrial planets. Then buying computers to go back the other way.
Then spending your hard earned cash on increasing the offensive and defensive capabilities of my plucky ship to blow other ships out of the vacuum as my rating climbed higher until finally becoming Elite.
So what’s your favourite game?
It doesn’t have to be the best game ever, just your favourite one……

Yes, yes, yes. I know he is a Resident Evil fan, I wanted to know what he liked about it that made it his favourite game.
Now he's told me I'm happy.
Before I got my PS1 some of my mates had one and i got to try out all their cough cough "chipped" games and among them was Resident evil, I played this and wow, I was amazed, I eventually bought a PS1 not only for RE but for all the other class games too but this was the one i played most.
I could not keep off it and thought it was a masterpiece in terms of gameplay, gothic style horror and if you check out some of the Biohazzard web sites you'll find this game has as much depth as the metal gear series.
When the Director's cut came out, I bought that loved it, played it to death and then Resident evil 2 and so on.
I know own a PS2 because all of the series can be played on it RE1,2,3,survivor,DC and soon Code veronica x and the 5th aniversary DVD.
I just love the whole game.
While i'm on the subject has anyone played thrill kill, well this was never offically released but there are so many copies around that there's even pre loaded xplorer codes for it.
Resident evil 2 in the making had a pre version (RE 1.5)that was 60% complete and was completly scrapped to make the version of RE2 thats in the shops but it is somewhere out there.
If i had it i would upload, copy and sell but i don't so if you know of ANYTHING about how to get this lost masterpiece you be sure to let me know.
