During peak times the servers weren't saving stats properly (Between 6pm and 12pm). I got on a little after 4pm and everything was fine 'til about 6. Then after twelve all my stats were saved EVERY time again.

The servers are obviously getting too much traffic and I suspect EA may not have taken into account Live 3.0 which increases the traffic with voice messages etc.

During the peak time me and vex ended up playing on the french created servers and found that the stats save a good 70%+ of the time.

Had a freeze when I got 31 takeouts but it still registered it all (Haven't checked if I got all the car for 30 takeouts yet though).

Nice to see the gaming giant stumble on something every other live supporter has made look easy (sure we had a little ELO problem and Ghost Recon times weren't synchronised at all but the stats SAVED and the important stats were fine - stuff ELO).

Despite all this it's easily the best racer on Xbox.

Exactly.

If you have RSC2 and Burnout 3 there's little need for PGR2 anymore.

There should be some sort of trading standards law put into games. Something along the lines of, they shouldn't be allowed to release it unfinished just to reach the deadlines.

But of course, now that they are able to put online patches out I think we'll see it more often.

I really want to play this game online but it really does sound like a complete and utter EA feck up.

My first three online games (all of which I won) involved the stats not getting updated and everyone getting kicked at the end of the race. Once was annoying, twice was really annoying, three times was screamingly annoying. A fourth time in a row and I've snapped the disc.

Thankfully I managed a few decent races.

It does however take forever to do anything, between the long loading times, the whole signing into EA, waiting on players etc.

Oh and there is a random bug where sometimes it permanently displays waiting on other players in the lobby, even when it isn't. It seems to happen mostly when you change game modes. The only solution to that was for someone to leave the lobby then rejoin.

The lobby system itself is a mess, where you have to enter a particular lobby, then you can accept invites for the same lobby only. Otherwise when you try to accept an invite it comes up Unknown Room, then disconnects.

But the most annoying thing of all is the freezes. I've had two of them tonight in game and one when viewing my friends list. The problem with the friends list was somebody logged on whilst I was viewing it, so it froze. In game it seems to be with either two simultaneous crashes or takedowns or something like that. Ending up out the game makes it a bit difficult to tell.

In short, whilst single player is great fun, multiplayer is as big a wreck as a Custom Compact (failing to) dodge traffic. I hope they patch it really soon. In fact, I'd prefer the had just released it fully working in the first place, but that is a lot to ask of course.

just been playing it online and it was a laugh. Only problems i had was, it takes a while to load up games, and its sometimes fails to update your online states. other than that it was fun...but the yanks can still make you want to scream down the mic every now and then.

Notice the main bad points of the game are the things EA took control of; the music and the Online mode. The quote from EA pretty much says it all "We're not about to support a model where the content provider does not get paid for the content provided".
So they'll provide it themselves and f**k it up in the process.
