Another thing that Ninty always pull off on their consoles, is to make them do things that they were never meant to. For example, the SNES was NEVER meant to handle 3d polygon graphics... but Ninty found ways to do this and pull off Starfox. With the N64, Ninty introudced the expansion pack to allow games to increase textures and the like.
What will they pull off with the GC? Obviously it is impossible to forsee, but if I were Ninty then I might be thinking about motion sensors... or even some kind of internet updates like a digicam.

However, when the N64 first came out, RAM was far more expensive than now. They COULD have put in a gigahertz processor... but it would cost too much for the consumers... u seee why they might add things later

This is something that you can see in allot of consoles as the hardware specs. are more or less fixed and software houses are forced to re-invent the wheel each time to improve the quality of their products. I wasn’t really into early Nintendo or Sega consoles, being more of an ST/Amiga guy, but for the PS one the difference between initial titles and games around now is stunning.
The PC has the supposed advantage of being easily upgraded with hardware and their respective drivers, so do the software developers have an easier time (relatively speaking of course) producing high quality software?
I won’t be expecting any truly awesome displays from the next gen. consoles for a couple of years, until programmers are up to speed with the technology and then have to push the envelope to produce better and better games. Sure the initial games are have been/will be great eye candy, but how long before a game really makes you sit up and take notice. I know there are good titles for both the GC and PS2, but I mean games with the impact that MGS , GT, Legend of Zelda etc. had on the gaming community. I think that when it does arrive, whatever console it is on, it will knock the socks of anything the PC has produced.
The PC might have the edge at the moment, but consoles with a hard drive, keyboard and built in modem to boot, the PC games industry could be in a spot of bother eh?
Oh look, the X-box, I wonder why?

I agree that if the PS2 HDD is to be successful it MUST come oas stanbdard. However, with the expansion pack, there are some exceptions...
An average console lives for 5 years... by the end of which it is far behind the current PC games. Most people would be happy to spend £30 upgrading their console instead of £300 upgrading their PC

Starfox, or Starwing, was a real showcase for exactly what the SNES could do, and later Rare pushed it on to a further level with DKC.
The N64 was never really pushed to the same degree, which is a shame, but hopefully the GAMECUBE will keep improving in the way that SNES games did.
