I suggest this. Just enjoy UKdiscussions.com. It's not life or death, it's not important, it won't change your life, it's just a bunch of discussion forums. If you are thinking of leaving, fine - that doesn't mean you can't come back another time. Why announce your 'departure' from the forums, when you can just not come on for a bit and go out and enjoy the sunshine?
People come on here to enjoy themselves. They find the kind of people they like and latch onto them, small communities have already formed and with this 'class' system, it has become clear what you people are like. People make friends in this forum. Through these forums we can watch your behaviour, and see you develop as writers, as reviewers and generally develop as human beings. It's interesting, think of it as a social experiment like Big Brother. The point is, these forums are FUN. You come on here, chat with a few people, maybe win something then leave for a bit - it's no big deal. We won't hunt you down if you go away - this isn't Hard Target and I'm not Jean-Claude Van-Damme.
My message is this. If you want to leave, fine. Good luck. But just remember, you make these forums what they are and without the smart, witty and intelligent posters, the quality will dip and less people will enjoy them. So have a rethink. Make them more fun if you think they are lacking something. Suggest stuff, we always listen to people's suggestions and usually act on them if they are valid points. So stay, or go out and have a life out in the sunshine with the real people. Who wants that?
Might work, but with 2 mods needing each other to agree and then ok from SR staff I think that would cover it.
And moderators would not be there to law down the law to everyone, just to guide and help people. To warn when they get too much and just...well...moderate stuff.
That's not to say topics get deleted everywhere, just to enable anyone with a question about that forum or topic to have a contact point, just to ensure that the forums remain at a decent level and to take some of the work away from SR, we know the forums, we know the posters and we know what topics have been covered over and over and over again.
"Now the FOG topics are filled with the discussion of Forum censorship... Its actually more polluted with non-FOG related stuff than it was before?"
Yeah, but at least it's interesting. Anyway, Tony has banned newbie topics from the Prime Fog... and he's considering banning them altogether. I'm not sure if banning them altogether is a nice idea though.
I liked Goatboy's idea of moderators. I think we would need three though, with only two needing the decision.
Now Grix will think I actually like him!

Well... only sort of...
Now the FOG topics are filled with the discussion of Forum censorship... Its actually more polluted with non-FOG related stuff than it was before?

I never planned on leaving. It was quite a good act.
The next question to be asked is "Why"?
Because actions speak louder than words. If I had just started a topic saying that the forums are declining, it would probably get a few replies agreeing with me, and nothing would have happened. If I start a topic suggesting that the forums have gotten so bad that I've decided to leave... as you can see, quite a lot happened.
I'm sorry if I upset anyone at Special Reserve for doing this, especially Ali and Tony. You're not going to get rid of me THAT easily. :0)
Funnily enough I am away out into the Scottish sunshine in a few minutes time...
