Every day, you could come on, and there would be... six, perhaps five new topics. Each of them would be excellently written, discussing new points. It was interesting to see what people had thought of, and it would be fun to argue the points.

That was six months ago. Since then, what's happened?

About 20 new topics are created every day, about two of which are worth reading. Regulars are dropping like flies, and some of the most respected of people on the forum don't come on any more.

In my opinion, the legacy of the FOG's have fallen. We do little more than chat pointlessly now. Even the stories, which have kept me here for the past six months, seem pointless these days.

What used to be a cozy forum, with people coming on and winning games, then leaving, with the handful of regulars who were always guaranteed to turn up every night, has turned into a mass of people, all chattering with no thought for entertainment, with only a good one or two topics every day.

As I join the likes of ssxpro, Wookiee Monster, FantasyMeister, Sniper, by leaving, I make this topic not so I can flatter myself with people telling me not to leave, but I make this topic because it's important that the FOG does not get any more worse than it already is. I hope that by showing people are not interested in the FOG these days, I hope that something can be done to bring the quality of the forums back to the greatness that it once was.

But... I shall not be handing in my resignation as a notable. Make what you want of this, but I have my reasons.

Tony, Sheepy, The Game, Rasta, Edgy, Turbo, Meka, Pb, er-no, Sniper, Venombyte, Rav, Ant, Darkness, Ali, Mouldy Cheese, De Sol, Dan_uk, M16, webmaster, FM, MWA, Goatboy, Wookiee, ssxpro, Shanksy, Reaper, Terry S, Iguana, Bonus, Fogmaster, Your Honour... I bid you all farewell. I hope you can bring to this forum what seems to be missing today.

Only a a number of us really understand where Grix is coming from, back in November last year THE FOG was amazing, every day I would look forward to reading peoples comments, people who loved to talk about gaming and not for the winning purpose, I came as a newbie back then and was amazed at the quality of the topics... since then everyday I have seen a decrease in the quality and the numbers have grown way to high.

The only way I can see a way through this is that SR make a forum specially for the ones Grix mentioned, as those are the people that made the FOG great.

We don't want to win games, we just want to talk about gaming, so SR give Grix and others what they deserve.

Otherwise I can see many others disappering.
Thanks

May I just add this: I will still come on FOG now and again, and you can be sure that I will add my replies to topics that are trying to gain some magic back to the Future Of Gaming.

Unfortunatly, I joined when it started its decline so I have no idea of what it used to be like, but certainly it has to be much better than this.

FOG without Grix? It doesn’t bare thinking about really, does it?

Only Grix knows what is best for him to do, but I see it as Grix going on a strike. Maybe people will realise that the situation is getting very serious now when they see that Grix Thraves is leaving.

I was very, very surprised when I saw this topic, and I was slightly sad to see Grix leaving because I will miss his funny comments, his passion for Nintendo, his brain, and his tributes to the stories that we have.

I don’t think that anything we say will hold him back as Grix is a very strong character, and when he makes up his mind he will not change it.

Since day one on the Future Of Gaming I have always looked up at Grix, and got excited when I see “topic started by Grix Thraves” shown because I know that it is going to be well written.

I have not been on here as long as Grix so I do not know what it was once like here, but I am taking Grix’s word that it was far better than what it is today.

As I admire what the likes of Grix Thraves, ssxpro, FM, and Wookiee, I am also going to make the decision of leaving, I do not expect many people to care because I am not a big of an icon as Grix is.

Maybe, I could come back in a few months time and I may be pleasantly surprised that the FOG has actually got back the excellence that it once had.

Thank you Grix Thraves, ssxpro, Wookiee Monster, FantasyMeister and Sniper for inspiring me to do what is best for the FOG, it just goes to show that you are all very special.

This is a very sad day, and I hope that one day we can all re-unite and have the brilliance of the FOG back as it was.

The amount of people is a serious problem. I didn't go on yesterday for various reasons and I've found that I have missed everything. 20 new topics started up with about 30 posts in each and you miss the conversation.

The problem is, this forum is too good.

The promise of a free game is a great bonus, and attracts many people.

The whole place is great - well set out, good to look at etc.

However,.... nah, i'll start again.

This forum is a victim of its own sucsess. There are too many people now.

Ach cheese!

Another sad sad day has occured in FOG history!

I can see where Grix is coming from. The best days I feel were back in the months of September-December as Grix described above about the (old) days.

These days I still come on regularly and at most times still enjoy the banter etc but recently as much as it hurts me to say it is getting out of hand.

I for now will still be on posting strong to keep some of the bast alive!

It is a shame many of the regulars are less frequent or in FM's case gone forever!

What has just happened. I hold myself responsible for this. I am one of the new people that have caused Grixs desicion to leave. Just have a look at my undercover investigation thread for an example. I mean what a pointless topic.

As you pack your things Grix I hope you reconsider and dont decide to leave as you will be missed sorely.
