The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
Every day, you could come on, and there would be... six, perhaps five new topics. Each of them would be excellently written, discussing new points. It was interesting to see what people had thought of, and it would be fun to argue the points.
That was six months ago. Since then, what's happened?
About 20 new topics are created every day, about two of which are worth reading. Regulars are dropping like flies, and some of the most respected of people on the forum don't come on any more.
In my opinion, the legacy of the FOG's have fallen. We do little more than chat pointlessly now. Even the stories, which have kept me here for the past six months, seem pointless these days.
What used to be a cozy forum, with people coming on and winning games, then leaving, with the handful of regulars who were always guaranteed to turn up every night, has turned into a mass of people, all chattering with no thought for entertainment, with only a good one or two topics every day.
As I join the likes of ssxpro, Wookiee Monster, FantasyMeister, Sniper, by leaving, I make this topic not so I can flatter myself with people telling me not to leave, but I make this topic because it's important that the FOG does not get any more worse than it already is. I hope that by showing people are not interested in the FOG these days, I hope that something can be done to bring the quality of the forums back to the greatness that it once was.
But... I shall not be handing in my resignation as a notable. Make what you want of this, but I have my reasons.

The only way that I can see to return the forum to the way it was in the past is to have a regulars only forum. Or even a "by invitation only" forum.
Last time we contemplated this the general feeling was negative.
Also I concerned about the number of people now competing for Gameaday. Some serious consideration has to go towards making the selection fairer, and providing prizes exclusive to the forums.

Here's what needs to be done in the Prime topics forum.
Only add to threads if it is developing the discussion.
Don't dismiss anyones views, unless it is downright bias.
Don't start threads that are better suited to this forum.
Personally I try to add my own views to as many topics as i can, but lately time has not been on my side. So I comment where I can, and just hope that someone enjoys reading it.
Another problem is that people will just start a thread, then leave it to die. If you start a thread, keep going back to check on the replies, and develop the discussion further. There's not much worse than when you ask someone to clarify what they meant by something, or to develop a comment, then they just don't come back, and a potentially very intersting thread just dies.
Ah well. Such is life.

its sad that your going but you only have others and maybe yourself to blame. whenever a newbie tries to join in with a conversation they get ignored or told to shove it, they inturn write a topic hoping you will respond to it and maybe like them

Whilst it says that you can win for posting cheats on http://gameaday.co.uk then cheats have to be counted.
Until that's changed it is still possible for cheats to win!

I'm willing to change this Forum around and get it back on track. We need to teach the Newbies (including me) not to post Rubbish, this is about games. I will stick to these rules and help Chat to get rid of the rubbish topics.
Please, no more arguements, wheter your a JAT, newbie, egular or notable we are all equal, and everyone is allowed to voice there opinions!!!

I think its time to stop thinking aboutt he future of gaming and think about the future of FOG.
I'm off for a while maybe very late tonight Downloading some demo to decide whether to buy this game of mine or not.
