The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
Every day, you could come on, and there would be... six, perhaps five new topics. Each of them would be excellently written, discussing new points. It was interesting to see what people had thought of, and it would be fun to argue the points.
That was six months ago. Since then, what's happened?
About 20 new topics are created every day, about two of which are worth reading. Regulars are dropping like flies, and some of the most respected of people on the forum don't come on any more.
In my opinion, the legacy of the FOG's have fallen. We do little more than chat pointlessly now. Even the stories, which have kept me here for the past six months, seem pointless these days.
What used to be a cozy forum, with people coming on and winning games, then leaving, with the handful of regulars who were always guaranteed to turn up every night, has turned into a mass of people, all chattering with no thought for entertainment, with only a good one or two topics every day.
As I join the likes of ssxpro, Wookiee Monster, FantasyMeister, Sniper, by leaving, I make this topic not so I can flatter myself with people telling me not to leave, but I make this topic because it's important that the FOG does not get any more worse than it already is. I hope that by showing people are not interested in the FOG these days, I hope that something can be done to bring the quality of the forums back to the greatness that it once was.
But... I shall not be handing in my resignation as a notable. Make what you want of this, but I have my reasons.

I bid you all farewell. I hope you can bring to this forum what seems to be missing today.

I'm going to stay here because I have nothing better to do. I'm currently unemployed after leaving school and this is the only place for me to go otherwise I'll be playing games all day.

It seams that the popularity of the FOG has brought its downfall.
I don't think there is anyone to blame for this, FOG got to busy too fast.
I wasn't here 6 months ago, so I cannot compare the forums then and now. The FOG now is to me the same as it has always been. I can imagine it quieter with better topics and less crap flying around, and it sounds like a much better place.
There needs to be a plan of action to stop FOG from getting any worse than it allready is.
Number 1- If you don't have anything decent to say, don't say it.
Number 2-Think more original, Now, I know im not the best person to be saying this because I don't create topics very often, but try to say somthing new.
Number 3- merge the two FOGs again but give someone the power to delete a topic if it has no meaning or point to it.
Who gets the responcability I don't know, but somone like to Tony would do.
Thats should be enough to make FOG better and to appeal to
the old regulars again. This combined with the newbies not making topics for 3 weeks( or something) may make FOG the place it once was(supposidly).

Yes, let's see how Tony's idea works out.
I think we should let this topic drop and leave all the ideas for another time. FOG has been sorted out with a good idea and there's no point complaining as it wont change. Lets just get on with Posts to do with Gaming!

i.e Ones thought reasonable to enter a Respectable only forum.
The Notable's could elect 1 person every fortnight, who would seem reasonable to enter the new forum?
Cuts out the blandness of some 'Newbie drivel' which seems ever increasing now.
