Sounds strange doesn't it, but this is probably what sank the Nintendo 64 boat those years ago. The Nintendo 64 might not be as 'dead' as the Dreamcast, but all excuses aside, the N64 is in it's dying days.
You see when the N64 games were first revealed Nintendo wanted all the spotlight... they had peoples attention, not Konami or Activision! It was all Nintendo, Nintendo, Nintendo...
Thankfully those days are coming to a close and us 'Nintys' can rest assured that Nintendo will offer the same fantastic gameplay through a much better console... and although Nintendo will still want the main focus to be on their games, such as PIKMIN, Luigi's Mansion and Wave Race, they will have to allow the hoards of top games from 3rd party developers to take thier place on the podium.
But Nintendo won't lose all gamer focus. Franchises like Mario and Pokémon will continue to hold thier own. But with other great games being added to the library Nintendo might need to take a bigger bite of that humble pie to realise that gamers want lots of games from all different developers, and as good as they are it won't be JUST the Nintendo franchises that take the Gamecubes of the shelves next spring.
Konami, Activision, EA, You name them... they'll all play a part in the arguably inevitable success of the Gamecube! It's just a good job that Nintendo aren't so bloody stubborn anymore. Someone must have made Yamauchi a very happy man for him to be this 'nice'!

I dont think theres any Stunt with Squaresoft, Nintendo were pretty annoyed that Squaresoft, a company that grew up on the success of the NES and SNES completely ignored the N64 and licked Sonys behind. I dont think FinalFantasy will be appearing on the Gamecube, and to tell you the truth I dont care I hate the games anyway.

I don't think that the Gamecube was going to be ditched. The Nintendo boss (I don't want to have to type out his name) just said so to lower expectations, get publicity and then surprise everyone with how good the Gamecube is.
This new marketing tactic probably cam around when they saw what happened to Sega's Dreamcast. Great but got ignored.
That's why they've decided to show everyone that if the Gamecube gets criminally ignored then Nintendo will have to go the same way. They're basically trying to make gamers paranoid about losing one of the greatest gaming companies on the planet so they all buy a Gamecube quickly instead of waiting for the price to drop.

And quite a good one, although noticably rushed by SLIGHT lack of extra's.
I think it's great anyway... I wan't to have more of a look at Super Fire Pro Wrestling, I love wrestling and if this one is as good as the Japanese SNES classic I'm Game....

You are right though... all the launmch titles look great although I'll only get 3 at most.
I still play my N64... my cousin has taken my DC at the moment so Banjo-Tooie and Mario All-Stars on my SNES are what's keeping me going!
Hopefully I should get a GBA on release date from SR and I have Konami Racers coming soon as well. But I too rely on my N64...
But really don't you think it's going to take a lot more that the Gamecube to persuade and reassure fans that the Gamecube is for everyone?! I do... the GBA will HAVE to play a good part in the built up and Nintendo need to make known the future connectability to the millions...!
