I was going to post about this the other day but couldn't find the will. It looks neat in some ways, but crap in others. I thought the chess thing could be kind of cool but then you have to have a fight to see who's piece is killed, which just ruins the concept behind chess.

The puzzle game reminds me of super puzzle fighter, which isnt a bad thing really.

EDIT: Oh, and the fatalities look crapper than they did on the playstation.

Now, "taking" the queen is a real turn on.

Mortal Kombat - Ooooooh, Gory, lifelike people .... Cool!

Mortal Kombat 2 - Even better (IMO the best of the series bar none)

Mortal Kombat 3 - Good story, interesting characters, not bad I suppose.

Anything after - Meh

It was the same with Street Fighter 2

Streetfighter 2 - Wicked, one of the best fighting games ever

Streetfighter 2 Champion Edition - Pretty much the same with extra characters

Streetfighter 2 Turbo - Loopy speed settings, but good none-the-less

Super Streetfighter 2 - taking it too far

To be honest I am really looking forward to it. Grab the IGN video preview, I thought it looked very promising with the Dead or Alive multi-level combat coupled with a faster engine allowing for more fluidity, plus the multiple decapitation moves.

Granted Deadly Alliance was quite poor as it it turned out, this though looks like it could put the series right bak on the map.

It's not actually that bad really. I played a few games down at GSL. It's definitely more polished and faster than DA, but it's still not outstanding.

Didn't manage to pull off any fatalities though - couldn't remember the combinations! (if they're the same)

The fatalities is where it is all at, I found the combat sluggish and un-responsive in Deadly Alliance when it was clear that something more free flowing (ala Dead or Alive 3) would actually suit the Mortal Kombat series more than the classic hit, drop back, hit, drop back routine of older Mortal Kombat games.

Faster combat, more fatalities, multi-tier environments.

Winner for me.

I watched the videos and concede it looks pretty damn good.

I thought the fatalities looked gash, does nobody else agree?

Oh, and the asking for date of birth is gay too.
