It's National Novel Writing Month

http://www.nanowrimo.org

The idea is to write at least 50000 words of a novel, by the 30th November.

I've signed up, finally decided to get a neovel written. 2200 words (ish) done on the first day.

If I had the time to devote to it, I could write 10,000 words a day.

But I don't.

And besides, such a lengthy piece would require a degree of forethought that I've never committed to my writing.

Maybe when I'm not working like a mule to get stuff done for the greater good of the company, I might be able to take time to look at writing something longer than 2,000 words, but not now.

Also, I cannot imagine having the patience to proof-read and edit something so large.

Well, considering that I've been writing a lengthy novel since around August, and I'm now at around the 32,000 words mark, I can't see that I'll be entering this...

Never! It will die with me - unread!
Actually, it's a surreal (and perverted) mess.

viz. a masterpiece ;-)

50,000 words by November 30th... I'd never do it! Sometimes I spend a week on a single paragraph. Funnily enough though, I've nearly finished the novel I'm writing - current wordcount: 50,044 (and that's taken me 8 months).

Go to the Life forum and read the Tony Blair thread - Hedfix has completed that already and is well on his way to 100,000.

Just passed 10000 words. Behind schedule by 5000 or so, but I had a busy period of four or five days. Whether i get there or not, this is the single longest piece I have ever written. But it was 6000 odd words ago!

theres not much of an incentive. No prizes, no power, not even a certificate or hard copy of your written story.

With assignments coming in from all over the place and a mere 6 weeks to complete them, this isn't happening.

I'd do it but I'm crap at writing, which is a rather large problem for this sort of thing.
