England...Today, i witnessed terrible play. Missing Rooney? Maybe, but it's not a one man team. The 'team' effort was abismal. We couldn't string a pass together, let alone a shot. Our one goal came from a penalty!

I don't know what is wrong and certainly cannot pin-point it, but if we hope to qualify for the world cup and get in the finals, we need to improve. And fast.

The only one that matters is Gerrard. It will actually be interesting to witness a full ninety minutes of English international football without Beckham, and his farcical captaincy. That is, of course, on the proviso that Sven doesn't just once again hand the armband inexplicably over to Michael Owen. Tragically Gerrard will miss out on this one, unfortunately rare opportunity to take over, but hopefully John Terry will be given the chance to prove his worth.

Really our C Team should be able to beat Poland, so you'll forgive me for not sharing your despair. Hopefully the desire of whoever is called up to replace the three to prove themselves can also inject a bit of passion into the performance and counteract Sven's placid game ethic.

Yea Rio hasn't been in great form and made sloppy mistakes, but then again when has an England team ever been decided on current form with Sven in charge :-D

I think dropping Rio was because he hasn't been in great form in the last month, and Sol has come back and is doing great. 4 years ago it was Sol and Rio all the way, but Terry has come along, has been excellent for a while, and deserves his place.

I think in the end it will come down to the fact that Sol and Terry are perhaps too similar, and Ferdinand will get back in there alongside Terry. Just as long as he doesn't forget anymore essential appointments...

Yep. I think the scouts need to be looking for more talent. And what's this about dropping Rio from the team! He's good...Personally i can't see why he should go..Maybe someone can correct me.

The theory seems to be inferior players that could play the same role, and fill in for the superior players, should they get injured, rather than options on the bench and in the squad that can allow you to tinker with the system to take advantage of opponents weaknesses.

The actual squad isn't quality...We don't have much choice. When someone is injured, the team suffers. We need better players. Fact.

Yeah, but remember how long it took for Sven to get rid of Heskey - he might decide he likes a big man up front.

Shame Carrick's injured. But I can see Sven picking Jenas or Ledley King in midfield. Or Phil Neville. Or Alan Smith. If Parker or Murphy were in the squad they would have done well given the opportunity, but now it seems a lesser player will have to come in.

There's no way Crouch will be forward when we have Rooney available. It's almost a fact that Rooney will be in the starting 11. As for Wright-Phillips, thats a good choice. I forgot about him. I thought Ledley King played average yesterday...

Ferdinand will slot in for Cambell, no problem there, but it does leave the midfield with the opportunity to try something different.

Wright-Phillips will no doubt come in for Beckham, but will be play a proper holding midfielder alongside Lampard?

Or will Jenas come in and be utterly anonymous?

Or, maybe, keep Crouch and Owen up front, play Lampard, Cole and SWP in the middle, and Rooney just off the strikers.

Rooney clipping intelligent balls into Crouch, and weighted through-balls to Owen?

It's not like it matters greatly if we lose, so he could change it around a bit.
