Buy new ports

It isn't the port, it's the cable.

The cables are 2.0's and plug into any supplied USB socket - in short - all you have to do it match up the right ends and you're away.

There aren't specific ports for each type of USB cable, all ports support cables such as 2.0 and 2.1, the difference is in the cable itself. The higher the number, the higher the speed.

The cables normally come with software, such as an iPod or camera.

It depends on the speed of transfer, even 2.0 is fast though. I'd imagine it only costs about £5 but if you wanted a firewire USB (the fastest I know of) then that will be in the region of about £15.

You can get them from most electrical places, PC World also stock them.

When I connect my Zen to a USB 1.1 port, it says if you connect it to a USB2.0 port it will run faster, when I connect it to a USB2.0 port USING THE SAME CABLE it works faster

He is wrong. You need USB2 ports on your computer. You can buy PCI cards which give you a bank of USB ports on the back, and, optionally the ability to connect to a front USB port as well so you can set that to USB2 as well.
