Many people don’t see the Game boy Advance not as a console but more as a toy to use only in the car or on another journey. If people buy a dreamcast now and then a GBA, two weeks later and then a Gamecube next year, they would probably only think that they had bought two consoles. Now in my opinion the GBA has had such a good line up it is classed as a console.

What makes it different from the Game boy/ colour is that they had some baby-ish games and short platformers in it. The graphics weren’t powerful enough to hold an adventure game or many details in it so most games were a bit poor. The GBA on the other hand has some very powerful graphics the same as the playstation with 32-bit. This means that it can take bigger and ultimately better than any other hand held consoles that we have ever seen before. The games like Mario advance, Mario kart and other games like RPG’s show that it could be even better than the playstation.

The reason I say this is because the psx released so many games that got no response from the public and was a total waste of time. The game boy advance is getting support from sega as well as Nintendo’s top games, which will make every game worth buying or taking a good look at. If you asked me the playstation loses to this hands down for a number of reasons…

GBA: advantages-
-Has 32-bit graphics with some smooth colours and I haven’t seen any glitches yet.
-Is small and light to hold and carry around easily.
-Have some sega games on it like sonic, which will give it a booster.
-Gives hundreds of colours that make the games look all that much better.
-Only costs £80 and that isn’t bad at all for such a powerful handheld console.
-It’s Nintendo which sums it up!
-No loading time and it is again in cartridges.

Disadvantages-
-… Can’t think of any but I suppose nothing is perfect in this world.

Psx: advantages-
-Has 32-bit graphics which are use well in games like the FF series.
-Have some exclusive games like crash or Spyro (but are now migrating).
- Lara croft, which is a good thing... I think...

Disadvantages-
-Hundreds of crud games that wouldn’t have even been amusing on my mega drive.
-Graphics are patchy and they don’t use a lot of colours, which they could have done better with as most games are dark and there is no obvious use of nice colours.

Now in my opinion the GBA has beaten the playstation easily but everyone has different opinions and tastes. Nintendo are giving more sequels from games like Mario and Zelda etc, which means that again their mascots… have a big role to play in the success of this console. Hopefully the games will stay at £29.00 in which case I will hope to purchase most of them.

Overall the GBA is set to be the best hand held ever but there isn’t even any competition for it and Nintendo’s release dates have done it again, but in the next five years will there even be any competition which won’t really prove much for the newest handheld but I think it has proved itself enough.

I will be purchasing a GBA and I hope you will too!

Cheers

IT's good because it's not a portable SNES!

It's got a Banjo Kazooie game which is ment to use similar moves to the N64 and is Kinda 3D! The game looks amazing!

The Gameboy Advance looks like it's gonna be as popular as the Gameboy/Pocket/Color!

In Japan so many people have bought it and are trying to play multiplayer that they have sold out of all Game Link Cables!

This might mean we'll have a wait for Multiplayer action though!

The problem with Hand-helds, as you noted Time Warp, is that they are very rarely seen as consoles, and are often seen as those mini LCD type things, which is a severe mistake.

Hand helds are mini-consoles, and are the most popular type of console available (or at least the gameboy was anyway, other hand helds failed miserably to compete against it). The Gameboy, was and still is the most successful console ever, and the GBA is set to take over where the Gameboy left off.

And the fact that the Gameboy was the most successful console is what is going to make the GBA very successful, because of it's backward compatibilty. All of those Gameboy games, I've lost count of how many there are, can still be played on Ninty's new hand held console.
And then you think of the SNES quality games that you'll be able to play, and you start to drool. Judging from the amount of people on these forums that love the SNES is bound to buy the GBA. So, the success of the SNES will also help to make the GBA successful.

Another good thing about the GBA and hand held consoles in general is they a friendly to the wallets. The GBA is being sold for £80 (I think). Sounds irresistable.

So, really, the GBA offer is to good to refuse. The games can be played anywhere, it is relatively cheap, has an extensive back catalogue of Gameboy games, and is set to bring out some absolutely brilliant and addictive games, and with SEGA also backing it, it can't lose.
