Many people don’t see the Game boy Advance not as a console but more as a toy to use only in the car or on another journey. If people buy a dreamcast now and then a GBA, two weeks later and then a Gamecube next year, they would probably only think that they had bought two consoles. Now in my opinion the GBA has had such a good line up it is classed as a console.

What makes it different from the Game boy/ colour is that they had some baby-ish games and short platformers in it. The graphics weren’t powerful enough to hold an adventure game or many details in it so most games were a bit poor. The GBA on the other hand has some very powerful graphics the same as the playstation with 32-bit. This means that it can take bigger and ultimately better than any other hand held consoles that we have ever seen before. The games like Mario advance, Mario kart and other games like RPG’s show that it could be even better than the playstation.

The reason I say this is because the psx released so many games that got no response from the public and was a total waste of time. The game boy advance is getting support from sega as well as Nintendo’s top games, which will make every game worth buying or taking a good look at. If you asked me the playstation loses to this hands down for a number of reasons…

GBA: advantages-
-Has 32-bit graphics with some smooth colours and I haven’t seen any glitches yet.
-Is small and light to hold and carry around easily.
-Have some sega games on it like sonic, which will give it a booster.
-Gives hundreds of colours that make the games look all that much better.
-Only costs £80 and that isn’t bad at all for such a powerful handheld console.
-It’s Nintendo which sums it up!
-No loading time and it is again in cartridges.

Disadvantages-
-… Can’t think of any but I suppose nothing is perfect in this world.

Psx: advantages-
-Has 32-bit graphics which are use well in games like the FF series.
-Have some exclusive games like crash or Spyro (but are now migrating).
- Lara croft, which is a good thing... I think...

Disadvantages-
-Hundreds of crud games that wouldn’t have even been amusing on my mega drive.
-Graphics are patchy and they don’t use a lot of colours, which they could have done better with as most games are dark and there is no obvious use of nice colours.

Now in my opinion the GBA has beaten the playstation easily but everyone has different opinions and tastes. Nintendo are giving more sequels from games like Mario and Zelda etc, which means that again their mascots… have a big role to play in the success of this console. Hopefully the games will stay at £29.00 in which case I will hope to purchase most of them.

Overall the GBA is set to be the best hand held ever but there isn’t even any competition for it and Nintendo’s release dates have done it again, but in the next five years will there even be any competition which won’t really prove much for the newest handheld but I think it has proved itself enough.

I will be purchasing a GBA and I hope you will too!

Cheers

The magazines have been building up a lot of hype over the GBA, and this, coupled with the fact that it is going to be absolutely brilliant, will make a lot of people want it or have a look, even if they don't usually play games.

Strangely, when I brought my GBA into work for the first time, everyone was buzzing round trying to look at the new Nintendo, and this is a bunch of people not even used to playing games.

Me and a couple of friends are trying to raise enough money to buy a GBA for a friend who's going to live in America. If we successfully raise enough money then I'm gonna choose a GBA game for him off my last GAD win.
