HERE ARE THE RESULTS OF THIS COMPETITION. I have read ALL the entries!

A lot of entries mentioned things which have generally been discussed before or are in the pipeline. They include:
User Profiles
Polls
Walkthroughs and Game Guides
Highest Scores
Who is currently posting
Splash Plastic (which is too expensive for us to do)
Online Reddies
Logos and Ringtones (see UKphonetones.com)
Genre search for games
Tell a Friend.

It just goes to show how busy we are that we are unable to get many of the above into place. But hey, expenditure is controlled by income (hint).

I liked Darkness' idea about tutorials, and Mantis made the suggestion to have a "Gamesmaster" of the forums based on competitions for high scores.

Cookie Monster wants people to be able to promote their website (we already offer this for Freeola customers) and he also suggests that we have an office pet which is monitored with a web cam (brilliant).

Monkey_with_Attitude suggests a "most played games of the week" counter on UKgames.com.

Freak of the Dark says our logo should "move or something".

Turbonutter reckons we should run Flash games and this is supported by Shaneo who says we should run SR Arena and give prizes to the best players. Turbonutter also tells us that we are lacking on PC game specification of the type you find on the back of the box and Swish extends this to a link under each title.

CDouch is a "man of a thousand ideas", mostly on the button too. He lists: Information on gaming from around the world, more mini sites like UKgt3, kids corner, celebrity visits and better organised release info including more information on unreleased games (to name but a few of his suggestions).

The rules (written by Kendozod) state "exciting and would attract a lot of visitors".

THE WINNERS ARE:
CDouch for MORE INFORMATION ON UNRELEASED GAMES.
Turbonutter for FLASH GAMES.

Many thanks for all of your participation and, for the time being, I promise not to confuse the issue by holding any other similar competition.

Below are the original rules written by Kendozod

New Site Features.

Tony has let me loose to post a new and exciting competition!
So here goes:

This competition is for all of you to think up new features for our websites. We already have cheats, clips, demos, discussions etc but are there other features you would like us to add?

The aim here is for the feature to be low admin maintenance and low in cost (obviously!) but be exciting and would attract lots of visitors.

They can be fun, educational, business, reference, silly, cool - anything as long as they NOT sexual or violent in nature.

This competition is open for 1 month and the best ideas that we USE will win a game as part of GAMEADAY. If no ideas are used then I will pick 1 winner that I deem the best.

CLOSING DATE: 8th July 2001

So get thinking and posting. Remember, your suggestions could make a difference!

Maybe there can be a page where you can search for users of SR and send them a memo or message in their personal guestbook.

Each member can have a guestbook and messages can be selected as private (only to be seen by the guestbook owner) or public (all users can see the entry)

it would make it better though if messages where limited to a small amout of words and characters as otherwise the feel for the discussions will be lost. It isn't chat and it is more like discussions.

Just brings a more closer feel to the other users.

You could have a page such as ukaccessories.com where you can show and sell all the stock related to games mainly aiming at hardware.

On this page there could be pictures and infomation about the top selling products over each system and links where you can go directly to see the stock for N64/DC/PS etc.

This will also get more people reviewing gaming accessories and more people buying it.

Add a 'Search by Genre' option to your search engine. Sometimes I just want to browse for a good game to add to my collection, and am not sure what to get, so if I'm on another site I type in 'RPG' in the search box and it throws up a load of RPG games for me to select from. The same for 'Shooter' or 'Racer' or 'Beat 'em up' and so on.

You could either provide this as a fixed drop down list next to your categories, or allow it to be typed manually, but if you type it manually it would be handy to have a list of genres to work from to prevent getting no results from typing 'racing' instead of 'racer'.

This would be a great addition to your site if you could do it. :-)

I know you have game clips but what about interviews with the designers, and maybe even progress reports of some games through media player or real player....

You could also have little flash games created by people ,so people can have fun as well as get educated on the upcomming games.

Have a polling board where people can vote for games they like and stuff like that.

You could have live video feeds off videogame exhibitions, like e3,but sadly that has gone but stuff like spaceworld and ECTS.

Have a poll.

Simple, every week SR set up a poll to appear on the domain homepages, all the visitors would vote and it would be very interesting to see the results after they have finished...
SR have hundreds of thousands of visits... it would be interesting to have there say... on a question like this:

Which will you choose?

Metroid
Smash Bros Melee
Zelda GC
Starfox Adventures

How about a 'guest book' type page for e-mailing problems to SR?

These could be mails to the Webmaster, technical problems, MAXX PC support, etc... an alternative to telephone support?

then again... how about a guest book?

:)

Hmmmm, i'm not sure whether many would agree with me, but what about a pure and simple chat forum? You know, where you can instantly see what they've posted instead of going in and out of the page in order to see if they've replied or not?

I have a site suggestion. In the rules for the forums you say that these forums are viewed by children, yet you advertise such DVDs as "The erotic witch project" and "Anna nicole Smith Exposed" very clearly on the forums rule page, both of these are 18 certificates and contain erotic content, therefore perhaps you could not advertise them here, for the sake of the children, sombody save the children.

Thank you for your time
