HERE ARE THE RESULTS OF THIS COMPETITION. I have read ALL the entries!

A lot of entries mentioned things which have generally been discussed before or are in the pipeline. They include:
User Profiles
Polls
Walkthroughs and Game Guides
Highest Scores
Who is currently posting
Splash Plastic (which is too expensive for us to do)
Online Reddies
Logos and Ringtones (see UKphonetones.com)
Genre search for games
Tell a Friend.

It just goes to show how busy we are that we are unable to get many of the above into place. But hey, expenditure is controlled by income (hint).

I liked Darkness' idea about tutorials, and Mantis made the suggestion to have a "Gamesmaster" of the forums based on competitions for high scores.

Cookie Monster wants people to be able to promote their website (we already offer this for Freeola customers) and he also suggests that we have an office pet which is monitored with a web cam (brilliant).

Monkey_with_Attitude suggests a "most played games of the week" counter on UKgames.com.

Freak of the Dark says our logo should "move or something".

Turbonutter reckons we should run Flash games and this is supported by Shaneo who says we should run SR Arena and give prizes to the best players. Turbonutter also tells us that we are lacking on PC game specification of the type you find on the back of the box and Swish extends this to a link under each title.

CDouch is a "man of a thousand ideas", mostly on the button too. He lists: Information on gaming from around the world, more mini sites like UKgt3, kids corner, celebrity visits and better organised release info including more information on unreleased games (to name but a few of his suggestions).

The rules (written by Kendozod) state "exciting and would attract a lot of visitors".

THE WINNERS ARE:
CDouch for MORE INFORMATION ON UNRELEASED GAMES.
Turbonutter for FLASH GAMES.

Many thanks for all of your participation and, for the time being, I promise not to confuse the issue by holding any other similar competition.

All the obove written by Tony (The Judge)

************

Below are the original rules written by Kendozod

New Site Features.

Tony has let me loose to post a new and exciting competition!
So here goes:

This competition is for all of you to think up new features for our websites. We already have cheats, clips, demos, discussions etc but are there other features you would like us to add?

The aim here is for the feature to be low admin maintenance and low in cost (obviously!) but be exciting and would attract lots of visitors.

They can be fun, educational, business, reference, silly, cool - anything as long as they NOT sexual or violent in nature.

This competition is open for 1 month and the best ideas that we USE will win a game as part of GAMEADAY. If no ideas are used then I will pick 1 winner that I deem the best.

CLOSING DATE: 8th July 2001

So get thinking and posting. Remember, your suggestions could make a difference!

when you look at the list of say open forums it says the time of the last post, i think it should also say who posted it and what topic it was in.

i hate the thing but loads of people love pokemon.
most of these are kids.
you could have a thing where they create and draw a pokemn of their own and give info on it - strenths , weeknes's,powers, and moves.
then you put them in battles against each other in a turnament thing.
the winner gets a game boy game or something like that.

over the summer you should orgenise tournements at your stores. where people can come down and compete against friends, strangers and members of staff at games like quake3 and tekken tag.
this will sentle many distributions on the site over who is the best, the greatest gamer of us all.

i would put up a good fight on smackdown 2, i rule that game, with my custom character outlaw

Before the compo ends can I just point something out:

A lot of these ideas recently mainly by CDouch are extremely good but very small and inexpensive ideas and only 3 or so have been major ideas and changes to the site!!

But if you were to choose an inexpensive idea that won't do much to the site then there won't be much point since if you do like any others of the ideas then do something similar over the weekend etc.

A very good idea that a couple of people over msn have agreed to now has been the SplashPlastic idea (zeldapro) and I know that about 50 kids in my school I know now have a Splahs Plastic card and it will let you buy stuff or spend money should I say over the internet!!

But the only places they can spend on at the minute are places named and advertised on SplashPlastic.com and related sites.

At the minute the only sites are not very well known ones that aren't big don't have much of a selection and a lot of things like videogames, except for Jungle.com and another site!

Jungle.com is ok and has some good prices but it isn't as good as SR!! I sometimes want to extend my membership 6-10 quid there, buy GBA, games, computer upgrades etc. and I can't do it since you aren't joined up!!

I think you make a slight profit from joining up anyway, more people would come to this site join up and spend the cash here because they would see it hugely adevertised on the page with a link, and you'd make more sales, more paying memberships and free memberships!!

And more GAD attempts like the walkthroughs idea as another GAD attept, this is not exactly a small idea like counters etc. but not a hugely big one like the SplashPlastic memberships joining whatever but would make a large impact on the site.

Adding a walkthroughs section would be enjoyable, for the people doing it, you could spend a week writing it out on word and copy it onto the editing screen where you type.

It would be more of a challenge to get it done in a day, so they wouldnt be overly big unless they spent ages and then entered it one day for an attempt!

They could have a very basic form of art but that would be up to you but I would say keep it as the normal typing screen on most things just have an unlimited word count.

So these two (2) are my favourite ideas so far especially the splash plastic one (mine) and the walkthroughs one maybe in the future but quite close to the present. (walkthroughs idea not mine).

Another of my ideas would be to extend the reviews limit al least back up to 10,000 characters because 4000 is ridiculous.

So there you have it my Really big idea at the top A medium idea at the middle, and a small idea at the bottom!!
