"The Football Accumulator Thread"

Right, i know some of you guys are not keen football fans so probably not a great thread for you - sorry.

However, for the few of us that enjoy football, i thought this could proove to be fun!

I love doing football Accumulators and very often, well actually never, have i won a bet of one. So to try help me spending all my hard earned cash i thought we could play a game. These are the rules (and even people who know nothing about football can play!)

Each week i will post the fixtures for the premier league on here.
From them you choose 4 games and say how it will go.
Getting 3 out of the 4 correct grants you a point.
Getting all 4 will get you 3 points.

Simple, right! I will of course keep a list on here and update the scored of the people playing.
So let me know if your interested in playing along. Fun game to keep me occupied and may actually help me finally win a bet!

I felt like that when the Russians moved in mate. But you just gotta sit it out, Liverpool have got a major history and no yanks can spoil that......

Except for Liverpool, think it's fair to say i'll be betting for Liverpool to lose most of their upcoming matches. I've actually become more interested in NHL (see thread :D) than football. It doesn't feel like Liverpool FC anymore... :( Out with the Yanks, gets the Spaniards and Arabs in :)

It's because most of us seem rubbish at predicting results. Althoughto be honest I thought I was pretty goodnormally :S

Still some results have been unexpected this season so far...

But it keeps things competitive throughout, it's just boring if one person constantly gets them right and is just leading everyone by miles. Gives people a better chance to catch up. All i know is the current format isn't working, as everybody is on 0 lol.

So if you guessed all 5 wrong would you get -5?

Seems overly complicated :D

We could do it so you get a point for every result you guess correctly, and a minus point for every game you get wrong.
So it would work out:

1 games guessed correctly(+1) +4 games guessed wrongly(-4)=
-3

2 games guessed correctly(+2) +3 games guessed wrongly(-3)=
-1

3 games guessed correctly(+3) +2 games guessed wrongly(-2)=
+1

4 games guessed correctly(+4) +1 games guessed wrongly(-1)=
+3

Looking over it, looks to complicated to be kept up, but i think i've just presented the system extremely badly. In short:

Guess 5 results. +1 for correct, -1 for wrong

Good suggestion Warhunt. I know accumulators are just that, but we're hardly stacking vast amounts of cash on the outcome:-)

And to clarify, I can't see anyone getting any points again :(

Still better games this weekend!

Oh and if I might suggest Emmie, it might be an idea to change it to guessing 3 games, and 1 point for 2, 3 points for all 3?

Who was expecting the Pompey result? The Liverpool result is fair enough as they are truly falling downhill at the moment.

[Edit] Actually Butch has a chance to get 1 point if Man City do it.
