After Englands lackluster performance in the last 2 games will they win?

I'm not sure.

Will the formation be the same and will Owen return to the squad or not?

Again not sure.

Discuss.

Couldn't agree with you more. In a TalkSport poll, 56% voted that they're unhappy with Sven. Well, what's there to be unhappy about? We've lost only twice in competetive matches, and, well, since he took over what has he done wrong (apart from sleep with his secretary - but isn't that normal these days?) his record is second to none, 21 wins out of 30 is most certainly not poor by any standard.

Sure, we haven't won anything. But neither have we since 1966 - it isn't like England have been terribly potent in World Cups or the Euros.

And as far as Rooney goes (being a United fan myself), why not play him on the left? England sure as hell need a player there, and, when you're that young and talented, you can be moulded to play elsewhere. It's not like United will mind either. Sure, Giggs can still run, but, by no stretch of the imagination, as good as he was five years ago, and in another five years, what then? I can't honestly see Ronaldo being moved across and Fletcher coming in, then we'd have no depth on the left or right, except for Park- 'nuff said.

At this present moment in time, Sven deserves a pat on the back. Our line-up, to reiterate:

Robinson
Young - Ferdinand - Carragher - A Cole
Lampard - Beckham - Gerrard
SWP - Owen - Rooney

That looks like the result of careful observation and fairly strong-minded selection. He's done well.

Joe Cole, instrumental in our 4-0 victory over the same opposition in March, hailed afterwards as the solution to our left-side problem is dropped, due to disappointing performances and a lack of discipline in doing his job. He'll be an influencial player coming off the bench, looking to fight for his place.

Rooney instead is on the left, and those claiming that Sven is an idiot for playing him out of position simply demonstrate two things - we're in a period of unpredictable hysteria concerning the national side, and most are vying for Sven's blood. We need to remember that Joe Cole is giving us no presence of the left, and since Rooney starts there for Man Utd and is such a threat for his club, he'll have no problem. He can hold the ball until Ashley Cole comes up on the overlap, or support Owen, which he does anyway - let's face it, they've never really been alongside one another.

Beckham did well against Wales, and deserves another go in that position, especially given the opposition (though hopefully he'll be told to play the ball short more often than long). Gerrard and Rooney play so well together and are, as such, on the same side, whereas Lampard is next to his Chelsea teammate who will stay wide. We saw against Wales the difficultly he had coming forward with Joe Cole cutting in in front of him.

The defence is the same as the Wales game, but well chosen. He gets a lot of criticism, Sven, but this time it's nice to give him a bit of praise. I think we'll do well tonight.

Explain to me how that is racist?

There is club football and there is international football. Club football is where any players can play for any team (except for those who can't get work permits). International football is 'SUPPOSED' to be players who are from that country playing for that country.

When Sven was younger he would never of been allowed to play for England, Ireland, France or whatever simply because he is not from that country. So you tell me why he is allowed to manage that country.

There is nothing racist about it what so ever, it's just that it isn't right.

I can kind of see where he's coming from. There's obviously going to be far less loyalty to your team, which is a bit of a blow. For example, I doubt Sven would want Sweden to beat England when they meet, but he's certainly not going to be trying his hardest to beat his own country.

If an English manager is managing the England team, you know the loyalty is going to be there. He's going to give his best whoever the opponent is.

Are you racist or something?

Sven is a manager, hired to do the job of managing the England football team.

I personally have started to doubt his ability, but I'm also gonna give him a few more shots.

It's not right having a foreign manager. If that's the case, you might aswell have Buffon in goal for England with Rooney and Ronaldo up front.

Hahaha, you won't have that problem, because you won't win it.

Who cares if he's foreign?

Hope Sven gets sacked after the Ireland game. I don't fancy winning the World Cup with a foreign manager. I can't beleive they have allowed country's to be managed by a person not from that country.

Anyway, I think the 4-5-1 formation might work, as all the midfielder seem to be attacking players. You just got to push Rooney and Wright-Phillips up a little bit.

As long as Sven doesn't do the diamond formation again, it could work. Don't think England have conceded for something just over 400 minutes in a competetive game.

Indeed. The 4-5-1's a tricky formation as it can either be ultra-defensive or ultra-attacking depending on the players. When Liverpool play it it looks incredibly closed and defensive, with that possible England lineup it looks awesomely threatening.

I think it's a good role for Rooney, he's good as an out and out striker but for me his talent is much better deployed creating and crafting moves from just behind the frontline and with Owen in front of him and SWP, Gerrard and Lampard backing up we're going to look dangerous everytime we're in the final third. Well... We should look dangerous everytime we're in the final third. But considering our last couple of performances...
