It makes a right mess. I managed to make some swirly patterns that won't go away. It looks like nasty smudges but no amount of wiping will make them disappear. Whoops.

I put my floppy near some speakers.

The vibrations made it go hard.

And don't put floppies on TVs/near speakers, either. Not that anything happens.

Apparently someone at my old school brought in a shoebox-sized magnet and placed it next to a Macintosh classic.

Apparently it made the screen go black for good

cba reading the thread but the obvious thing to do is open your monitor's OSD and use the Degauss/Demagnetize option. Duh.

1st = Magnets. Heh.
2nd = Throwing a broken piece of mobile phone at it in frustration. I have two chips of glass missing now.

if you unplug it and put it on a grounded surface (rubber mat or something) then it may fix the problem.

i had speakers on top of my tv for years when i had no space and when i moved them the tv screen went all green on the top half. i unplugged it and left it for a while and the excess static or whatever caused it (i'm crap at science) dispersed and the tv was fine a few hours later.
