Go!
Animes' not my favourite but I haven't seen quality stuff. Plus some of what I have seen was quite good, not fantastic, but not poor.
It was a reaction to the slating of JP3 ;)
Yes, some parts are ridiculous. I'm not trying to justify every twist and turn in the plotline and say everything in JP3 is perfect, only that it is the progression of JP and on terms of action (which is what the film is after all) it outstrips JP largely.
For me, the dinosaurs really do make a difference. Although there was variety in JP the abused the 'Raptors and T-rex a little too much, whereas JP3 focuses on the Spinosaurus, Pterodactyl, 'Raptors and T-rex.
JP is a fantastic film and (as I've said all along) the plot is sturdier than that of JP3, only, JP3 isn't a tosh film and in my opinion many of the action sequences are altogether better.
JP is a far better film

Can your tastes be trusted?

The acting in Jurassic Park is just the same as almost everyone in the first Jurassic Park, excluding the sterling performance of the old park manager (damn! I forget his name)
JP had its moments bit overall there is far more to get you dragged into JP3, such as the Pterodactyl attack, Spinosaurus chase and Plane crash. JP's storyline is hardly "far better", some dinosuars escape the park. JP3 plot is weak, I'll admit, but not completely outshined.
If you're not going to spell exhilerating correctly then don't use it, JP definitely has less moments of tension in it. Much of the film is slightly static and slow-paced with the exception of a few scenes.

Fantastic film, no debate required.

...Jurassic Park is a good film, but is the most toned down of the series, with the violence being far more suited to a child audience. It arguably has the best plot (not making it much better) the Dinosaurs themselves don't look quite as good as in Jurassic Park 3, and it's them you've come to see after all.
Plus Jurassic Park 3 has BILLY and an altogether better location. They waste less time at the beginning of the film trying to weave a plot around a film really hinged solely on action.
Get Jurassic Park One aswell though, if only to introduce yourself to the series
