Finally got some money the other day, so the first thing I did was buy The Warriors on DVD and this month's OXM. Was going to get OPS2, with their promises of Killzone, but Outrun 2, Kingdom Under Fire and Conflict: Vietnam seemed worth it more. How wrong I was.
Outrun is a dull racing game. Not a bad one, and it looks very pretty, but when compared with Burnout 3 ...well, there is no comparison. Kingdom Under Fire was good, but it's just Dynasty Warriors 3 with different characters. I like DW3, so I'll stick with that. Conflict: Vietnam was the only good one out of the bunch, but then that's just another rehash of the Conflict series of games - different characters, different location. So I lost interest in that pretty quickly, as I've played the other two Conflict games to death.
Oh, and Men Of Valour was crap. It looked crap, and had all the excitement of weeing into a sock. At one point after easily getting to the top of the hill, I felt myself getting shot at. So I composed myself, reloaded my gun, then turned around (whilst still getting shot), and the enemy VC was stuck running against my player on the spot, whilst trying to shoot me at point blank range. That's the sort of lazy AI I hate. And the bodies vanish - I hate that too. It's the Xbox, for f**k's sake - look at Halo. Half the fun of that game is sticking grenades on corpses and watching them fly. Lazy AI, lazy graphics, lazy cross-console port. F**kers.

Yeah, I bought the mag last week and had a couple of goes on Outrun 2 online and it sucked. I wouldn't even say it was good looking, compared to something like Project Gotham 2 or Burnout 3 it looks more like a Dreamcast game.
Men of Valor was just Medal of Honor: Frontline with better graphics and set in Vietnam. The AI's awful, how they expect it to stand up to Halo 2 I really can't imagine.
The rest of the games are all pretty average as hell, Confloict Vietnam's just the same old forumla with better graphics. Can't help but fell that the series went downhill after the first game, why they don't bring back the big open levels of the original I can't imagine.
