My Bro is looking for a new digi camera, and I've decided to get a nice flat monitor for Uni, so if anyone could do the leg-work and dig up and old thread, or make me recommendations in the £150 bracket, with lowest ms possible, for games playing. Again many thanks.

Finally sorted something out. After waiting on the phone for half an hour I finally got through to them. They told me to order the monitor again (which I have done with free next day delivery) and they'll sort out the collection of the other one, as soon as I inform them of my RMA number. So hopefully tomorrow I'll get the right monitor.

How can Ebuyer feck up so badly? Apart from it being so late, they've sent me the S version instead, a product not even listed on their site! If I wish to use DVI, can I just shove an adapter on the back, or will it not be true DVI quality? I'm really not paying to send this back...

Window mode is fine, I tend to play at 1024*768 so I can see what's going on in other apps at the same time.

Right I have decided which one to get - it's the L1730B, and I would order it if I knew what its response time was. Ebuyer quotes it as both 12ms and 16ms and I cant find an official website. It has DVI connection, which will be a bonus in the future. If anyone knows what the response time is it would be a massive help as I cant really seem to find it anywhere. Tho' I am a bit reluctant ordering off the 'net, and really hope this GFX card doesnt stop me from using the proper resolution.

Edit: Looking at a few reviews it seems it is 12ms, and an updated version of Tyla's 1710, we you gave huge praise to in my last thread months ago. Right now to find out about my dodgy GFX card :S

Edit2: Just wondering, since there's no way I can run games at that max resolution, i'll be using Windowed mode? Will that not result in the window being very small if i run it at say 800x600? Probably a dumb question...

Edit 3: I've also noticed in a couple of reviews that people have commented on the black level.

TomsHardware - "The black level is abnormally high, which has a strong negative impact on contrast."

Ebuyer comment - " The display is lighter at the bottom of the screen when showing pure black"

Strange thing is on more recent reviews on Ebuyer, people couldnt recommend it highly enough...

My card is a Radeon9200, not exactly modern, but neither is this monitor - its got to be about 10years old. My bro has the same card, and a newer monitor and has the same options, could be to do with set-up i suppose...

Reading reviews on Amazon, it seems that even at 1024x768 the screen still performs very well. I'll pick one up tomorrow and I can always take it back.

Final question, I dont have to run all my games in the top resolution do I? My GFX card can barely handle 1024x768...

What card do you have and what drivers are you using?
I can't think of a single modern graphics card that isn't technically capable of 2048x1536+
It's possible that your monitor doesn't support more than 1024x768 and therefore the option is hidden.

I've never heard of 'Video Seven'. It's probably alright, but I wouldn't expect anything groundbreaking.

Does it pose a problem that seemingly my GFX card wont go up to that resolution? BTW what did you think of that monitor I linked to?
