I have hardly bought any games for my PS2 all year, and didn’t buy many towards the back end of last year either. Don’t know what it is, but there just doesn’t seem to be any mass bulk of new games coming out that are grabbing my attention like they use to, and making me feel that ‘I just have to own that game’. It’s just not happening. And then the odd games I have actually made the effort to go and get, like Driver 3, have been a real let down.

Is anyone else feeling like this?

Perhaps it partly me too. I don’t play the PS2 half as much as I use to, and its lucky if its powered up more than 2 days a week, and then if it is, its just to have a go on PES3 or to watch a DVD. I just don’t feel like playing video games too much anymore. I’ll admit this is also due to doing Uni work, and not always having the time, but still when I do, I usually find something else to do.

There just doesn’t seem to be the games out there that I want to play anymore, and I currently only plan on getting 2 new ones, that being the new PES and the new GTA. Other than that…nothing.

I use to be getting new games on a regular basis, but not anymore.

I don’t know if im just bored of video games on the whole, or just bored of what the PS2 is offering. Either way, the next year is going to make a big difference over whether I bother with the PS3 or not.

How about you lot?

(On a side not, before any other console fan boys decide to take it upon themselves to hurl abuse at the PS2 and its owners, I must say I have previously enjoyed many hours playing games on it, and I am not saying its a bad console...just to make that clear.)

But of course... it's that feeling you get when you've seen everything a console has to offer... we're nearing the end of the current console cycle, and our brains have got used to and upped the standards again. Another words, we need to be "blown away" by something big that will revitalise our interest all over again.

Truth is, there hasn't been all that many PS2 exclusives this year.
Pro Evo will be avaialable on X-Box, and nothing else really has been released.
San Andreas will keep some interest in it, and maybe GT, if you like that sort of racing (I despise it), but otherwise, everything the PS2 has, the X-box has (better, as it requires no memory cards).
There have been few decent games released.

Burnout 3
Def Jam:FFNY
Pro Ev (obviously)
Viewtiful Joe (sold almost nothing though)
Madden 2005

Nothing else really to stand up and bark about though.

I can't get bored, because there's a huge backlog of games that I haven't bought yet - e.g:

Tekken 4
Stuntman
Driv3r

As school left me behind and university loomed, I eventually found life beyond gaming! I play far less games that I used to, and this year I've really only played old games like GT3, Vice City, and Pro Evo. It's a combination of not having the time, having better things to do (*ahem*), and a lower tolerance for games. Gone are they days when I could dedicate the time to find all 96 gold coins in Super Mario World!!

These days, a game has to grab me straight away. If I can't get into it immediately, I just give up and move onto something else. However, I'm really glad I have my PS2 because it there for when I want it. Will I get a PS3? Most probably, and that too will likely spend most of its time just sat there. But, when that time comes when I feel like playing GT5, I'll be able to!

GTA:SA looks bloody fantastic. I'll definitely be getting that, and if that's only the second new PS2 game I buy this year, that makes owning a PS2 worthwhile!

you know i found this when i had my ps2. after about 2 months it became a dvd player and nothing more to me and then after 6 months i sold it. I have to say its probably the most over hyped console ever.
I mean maybe i just bought it at a slow time, i think the only good game at the time was GTA 3. The problem is exclusive means just about nothing now days and all the best games are on multi format. The only game i would like on PS2 is the new GTA, but even that will be out on xbox and PC soon.
