Hella weird film.
Kinda disturbing, in an odd sort of way. Gonna have to buy it I think and watch it again - try and make sense of it.

Ah - but is it?

I'm not telling you. You've proved it yourself.
Word it how you like: the film challenged you.
Deal with it.
"Well it was either this, this or this - but I totally understood it..."
Stop trying to tell me that Donnie Darko challenged me. It really, really didn't. I just thought it was boring and not entertaining.

By your logic they must all be terrible too.

Actually it does.

Yep "challenged".

and once again "Challenged".
Well that was easy.

Yeah... since when was Donnie Darko the only film to opt for the easy ending?

I didn't want or expect it to be anything. I just thought that it was weak. It's simple. Just like if I find a song to be not worth listening to, it doesn't mean that it challenges my perceptions of music.

I wasn't "challenged" by the choice, I just thought he was simple and typical and he didn't interest me.

Well if, by "issues" you mean I thought that it was weak, then yeah.

Whereas a lot of films that kill off their main character at the end aren't doing exactly the same thing...
